Oakwood on the Road in San Antonio

 

Oakwood alumni and friends, please make sure to attend the Oakwood on the Road reception on Thursday, July 9, from 5:00 to 6:45 p.m., at the Grand Hyatt (Lone Star Ballroom), 600 E. Market Street.  

Hear the Aeolians while in San Antonio

 

The Oakwood University Aeolians will be performing at several venues for the General Conference's Session:

  • Wednesday, July 8 at 12:00 p.m. (Mission Stage)
  • Wednesday, July 8 at 1:30 p.m. (Hope Channel Stage)
  • Thursday, July 9 at 1:30 p.m. (Hope Channel Stage)
  • Thursday, July 9 at 7:00 p.m. (Alamodome)
  • Friday, July 10 at 12:15 p.m. (Convention Center Theater)
  • Friday, July 10 at 1:30 p.m. (Hope Channel Stage)
  • Friday, July 10 at 2:00 p.m. (Oakwood University Booth)
  • Saturday, July 11 at 4:30 p.m. (Hope Channel Stage)
  • Saturday, July 11 at 6:30 p.m. (Alamodome) 
Spot the Oakwood Ambassador

Oakwood University's mascot, The Ambassador, has traveled safely from Huntsville to be a part of the thousands of people who will call San Antonio their home for the next few days. Although he is not a delegate, The Ambassador will be walking around getting to know as many people as he can and inviting them to the Oakwood University booth. 

If you spot the Ambassador around the GC Session meetings, take a picture of him or a selfie with him and post on social media. Don't forget to use the hashtag #OU2GC15

While at the General Conference Session in San Antonio, until July 11, stop by Booth A516 in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center and visit with Oakwood administrators, faculty, and staff to see what's new with Oakwood University. While you are in San Antonio, please make sure to use the hashtag #OU2GC15


 

Listed below is a daily schedule of what you will see at the Oakwood University booth:



 

Wednesday, July 8

12:30-12:45 p.m. - Prayer Time at the Bell Tower

Guests will be able to submit prayer requests to the prayer leader.


12:30-12:45 p.m. - OU Fun Facts Contest

Participants will compete against each other answering Oakwood related trivia. Each game will consist of five questions. The winner will receive a prize.

4:00-6:00 p.m. - Picture Yourself at Oakwood

Take a picture in front of a "green screen" and choose from various picturesque Oakwood backgrounds. Pictures are free, however, donations will be accepted to support scholarships for students at Oakwood. Limit one picture per person per day.


5:00-6:00 p.m. - Drawing for Free Dinner for Two

Enter into a drawing for a free dinner for two, compliments of Oakwood University.


5:00-6:00 p.m. - Oakwood's Minute to Win It

Guests will have the opportunity to compete in various challenges (i.e. cup stacking, and brain games). 


 

Thursday, July 9

5:00-6:00 p.m. - Oakwood Pride Day

Alumni are invited to visit the booth wearing Oakwood clothing and join in reminiscing on their days on the campus of "our dear Oakwood." The Alma Mater and other Oakwood "chants" will be performed.

5:00-6:00 p.m. - Book Signing by Oakwood's First Couple
Oakwood University Authors, Doctors Leslie and Prudence Pollard, will sign their books on leadership development. Stop by to purchase your copies of Loving Leadership and Raise a Leader God's Way and get it autographed.

5:00-6:00 p.m. - Aeolians Mini Concert
Come and hear the melodious sounds of the Oakwood University Aeolians under the direction of Dr. Jason Max Ferdinand.
