Pollard's Places
On December 20, Prudence and I attended the funeral of Elder Richard Hodnett, a beloved pastor of the Pacific Union Conference, a dear friend, and an inspiring role model. Pastor Hodnett succumbed after a long and heroic fight with multiple sclerosis. He was 73 at the time of his passing. Elder Hodnett and his wife Carol were the epitome of the loving pastoral couple. Prudence and I first met the family during our days in the Southern California Conference in the early 1970s. Pastor Hodnett's funeral was held at the Valley Fellowship Church in San Bernardino, California. Elder Hodnett attended Oakwood College in the early 1960s. Pictured from left to right are his three sons: Loren, '03 and '14, a pastor in the Southern California Conference; Martin, '00, a psychology professor here at Oakwood; and Richard, '07, an assistant director in the integrated marketing and public relations office, also at Oakwood. As a community, let us keep the Hodnett family in prayer.
