Principal & Assistant Principal Appointments
Boise, ID -- (05/13/2016) -- Boise School District announces the following appointments, effective July 1, 2016.


Jean Lovelace - Assistant Principal, Trail Wind Elementary School and Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports Trainer (PBIS)

Jean Lovelace has 37 years experience of serving the public in Colorado and Idaho. In Cortez, Colorado she worked as a Medical Technologist at Southwest Memorial Hospital (1979-1989), as a Youth Counselor at Sunrise Youth Shelter (1989-1990), and as the Principal and Counselor at Southwest Open School (1990-2001). After moving to Boise she worked as a School Designer for Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound (2001-2002), as the Organizational Director at ANSER Charter School (2002-2003), as Intern Principal at Cole and Franklin Elementary School (Fall 2003), and as Principal at Whitney Elementary School from November 2003 to the present.

Jean is a well respected instructional leader who creates a strong school culture based on respect, safety and fun. She believes that every student can achieve a high degree of academic success. Under her leadership, Whitney Elementary School has grown into a vibrant community of learners that includes a Dual Language Program, Boise Pre-K program, a Community Center, an ELL program, Just For Kids daycare, and the Children's Dental Clinic. All of these entities work to form a strong community support system for students, staff and families.

Jean earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in General Biology from Fort Lewis College, Medical Technology Degree from Parkview Episcopal Hospital, Master of Arts in Counseling and Psychology from Adams State College, and Educational Leadership Degree from Northern Arizona University.


Tim Lowe - Principal, Taft Elementary School

Tim Lowe has served as an educator in the Boise School District since 1991. During that time, he has worked as an Elementary School Teacher (Cynthia Mann), Adjunct College Professor (College of Education, Boise State University), Assistant Elementary School Principal (Franklin) and Elementary School Principal (Hillcrest, Grace Jordan and currently Amity). In addition, Mr. Lowe has served in the Idaho Air National Guard for 23 years.

Mr. Lowe has been actively involved in supporting the District's initiatives, including the Strategic Plan Vision of preparing students for success in college, career and citizenship by providing professional opportunities for school staff and academic rigor for the students he serves. Mr. Lowe's professionalism, knowledge and skill have earned him respect and admiration among fellow colleagues, parents and students. He is dedicated to providing high quality educational opportunities for each and every child, bringing extensive expertise in working with Title I and ELL populations.

Tim has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Boise State University, a Master of Arts Degree in Instructional Performance Technology from Boise State University and an Education Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Idaho.


Amy Pinkerman - Principal, Whitney Elementary School

Amy Pinkerman has served as an educator in the Boise School District since 1997 after completing degrees from Gonzaga University, Lesley University and the University of Idaho.

She has worked as an elementary school teacher, elementary school assistant principal, summer school elementary school principal and currently serves as Principal at Taft Elementary School (2013 to present). In addition, she has effectively served as a school technology coordinator, PTO secretary and coached boys and girls 5th and 6th grade basketball.

Ms. Pinkerman has experience in providing rigorous and relevant educational opportunities for diverse student populations. She participated in the implementation of the K12 online instructional program using SMART Board Technology and the AVID program (college-prep program) at the elementary school level. She also has worked closely with student refugee populations and Extended Resource Room teachers for mainstreaming students into the regular education classroom.

Amy has distinguished herself as a professional administrator who is committed to establishing positive and effective relationships with students, parents and staff members. She has a thorough knowledge of assessment, curriculum and instruction and served as a strong instructional leader at Taft Elementary School.


Valerie Uhlorn -  Principal, Amity Elementary School 

Valerie Uhlorn has served public school students in Idaho for nearly a decade (Boise School District 2011-2016; West Ada School District (2007-11).  During that time, she has worked as an Assistant Principal (Trail Wind 2015-present, Web Trainer & K-12 Instructional Technology Specialist (2015 -present); Instructional Integration Specialist (2014 to 2015); Elementary Teacher (Hawthorne - 2012-14); and Special Education Teacher (Hawthorne - 2011-12; Lowell Scott Middle School - 2007-11).

Valerie is a knowledgeable instructional leader who easily cultivates a trusting and productive working relationship with students, parents, colleagues and administrators. She is dedicated to working collaboratively with all stakeholders in order to increase student achievement while meeting standards and fulfilling the strategic plan of the Boise School District.

Valerie earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Washington State University, a Master of Arts Degree in Special Education from Boise State University and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from University of Idaho.
