September 14:  Boise School District will hold auditions on Monday, September 14 for the All-City Honor Choir for students in grades 4, 5 & 6. Click here for more information. 



September 19:  A charity softball game between the Ada County Sheriff's Office and the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office will be held at 11 a.m. at the Mountain Cove Softball Field to support the Women's and Children's Alliance. Proceeds benefit the Women's and Children's Alliance Shelter Fund. Click here to learn more.  

September 21:  Boise School District will offer free developmental screenings for children ages 3 to 5 with developmental concerns.  Sign-up by September 16 in order to participate in the September 21 screening.  For an appointment call 854-5520. Services are available for children with special needs through the Boise School District Early Childhood Special Education Program. Click here to learn more.  

Boise School District Students Take Top Honors in National Merit Semifinalists Program:  A total of 19 students from the Boise School District have been named 2016 National Merit Semifinalists. Boise Schools' showing represents 21% of Idaho's National Merit Semifinalists - an impressive figure considering the District has only 9% of Idaho's public school students. A total of 92 students statewide were named to the prestigious scholarship program.   Students in Boise Schools named as Semifinalists are listed below in alphabetical order. These academically talented high school seniors now have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,400 National Merit Scholarships worth about $32 million that will be offered next spring.

Fall Parent Education Program Set to Begin: Boise School District has developed a parent education program to offer support and skills to assist parents or guardians with raising happy and responsible kids. Classes are offered throughout the District's schools at different start times throughout the semester and are taught by certified school counselors who have extensive training and experience. Parent education classes are available twice a year, fall and spring. There is a small cost. Classes offered change, but may include: The Parent Project, Parenting Teens, Strengthening Your Step Family, Parenting for the Single Parent, Parenting with Love and Logic, Workshops for Parents of Gifted Children, Drug Education and others. Planning For My Future Art Contest:  Public school students in grades 7-12 are eligible to participate in the Idaho State Department of Education's Planing For My Future Art Contest. Students who participate are encouraged to capture their personal vision of what it means for schools and students to achieve, and to visualize their college or career goals for the future showing persistence, determination and grit.  Click here for contest details.
