National Chefs Move to Schools Day

to be Held May 8th in Boise School District

Boise, ID -- 05/07/15 -- Chefs and schools have a unique opportunity to work together to get children excited about eating healthy foods. With this in mind, Boise School District Food & Nutrition Services has invited Chef Brenda (pictured below) to Timberline High School, 701 E. Boise Ave., at 9:42 a.m. on Friday, May 8th to help promote school breakfast with a new Peach Banana Smoothie being considered for next school year. Chef Brenda will also visit White Pine Elementary, 401 E. Linden St., during lunch at 11:25 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. to celebrate this special day.

Chef Brenda, a Registered Dietitian and graduate of Le Cordon Blue College of Culinary Arts in Austin, Texas, is committed to teaching others how to create healthy foods that are both nutrient rich and delicious.  Brenda currently serves on Michelle Obama's National Advisory Committee for Chefs Move to Schools and is also a Healthy Cuisine for Kids trainer for the National Food Service Management Institute (NFSMI).  The Idaho Department of Education recently published a book of Chef Brenda's recipes in its Chef Designed School Lunch Cookbook, and she is currently developing recipes for another book, Chef Designed School Breakfast.  Brenda's Chef Tuesdays recipes can also be found via the Idaho Department of Education's website.

Earlier this school year, Chef Brenda worked with Let's Move Boise and BSD Food & Nutrition Services during a Student Recipe Contest, which they hope will become an annual event (see photos below).
