Boise School District Announces
Assistant Principal and Principal Appointments 
 
Boise, ID  -- (05/11/2015) --  Boise School District announces the following assistant principal and principal appointments, effective July 1, 2015: 


Jason Adams - Assistant Principal, Boise High School

Jason Adams' career in the Boise School District spans 18 years. During that time, he has served students as a part-time math teacher (Hillside Jr. High - 1997-98), math teacher (North Jr. High - 1998-01), Language arts teacher and coach (Les Bois Jr. High - 2002-05), junior high school counselor (Fairmont Jr. High - 2005-12) and high school counselor (Boise High - 2012 - present).

Jason is a dedicated educator eager to build on his proven track record of commended performance with a passion for education and unwavering commitment to optimizing student and school success. Mr. Adams has experience implementing District initiatives and is focused on implementing the District's Strategic Plan Vision of preparing students for success in college, career and citizenship.

Jason earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Northwest Nazarene University, Master of Arts Degree in School Counseling from University of West Alabama and Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership from Boise State University.



Quane Kenyon - Assistant Principal, North Junior High School 

Quane Kenyon's education career spans 30 years. He has served students as a secondary teacher and coach (Carter County High School, Ekalaka, Montana - 1986-89, Borah High School - 1989-07), high school assistant principal (Borah High - 2007-10) and currently works as assistant principal at Fairmont Junior High School (2010-present).

Mr. Kenyon is a hard working and knowledgeable instructor who is committed to the academic and social success of each and every student. He establishes effective partnerships with parents, students, fellow staff members and community members.  He encourages a school culture of success and is an effective school communicator.  Mr. Kenyon is dedicated to the District's Strategic Plan Vision of preparing students for success in college, career and citizenship.  

Quane earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science from Western Montana College (Dillon, Montana) and his Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Idaho.  


Dan McGee - Assistant Principal, Capital High School

Dan McGee has served public school students for more than 28 years. During that time, he has worked as a high school social studies student teacher and physical education student teacher in California (Los Angeles Unified School District - 1987-88), social studies teacher, physical education teacher and coach (El Dorado Union High School District, CA - 1988-96). He also taught and coached secondary students at Skyview High School in Nampa and served as assistant principal/athletic director at Skyview (1996-13).   Mr. McGee currently works as an assistant principal at Wood River High School in the Blaine County School District, Idaho.

Dan is a compassionate and caring educator who brings a wealth of knowledge to his school leadership position. He is a respected educator who establishes effective relationships with students, staff, parents and school community members.

Dan earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science with a minor in Recreation Administration from San Jose State University, a Master of Education Degree from the University of California at Los Angeles and an Educational Leadership Endorsement from the University of Idaho.  


Cedric Minter - Assistant Principal, Fairmont Junior High School 

Cedric Minter started his teaching career at Middleton Middle School (Idaho) in 1988. Over the last 19 years he has worked as a school administrator at Nyssa Middle School, Oregon, Hillside Junior High School, Mountain Cove High School/Fort Boise Mid High School, North Junior High School and currently serves as Principal of Frank Church High School (2011 to present).

Mr. Minter is an inspirational educational leader who establishes effective working relationships with staff members, parents, students and school community members. He has extensive experience in serving students from varied backgrounds and is committed to seeing that each and every student has a chance to succeed beyond school and in life, including success in college, career and citizenship.  

Cedric  graduated from Boise State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education (K-6) and Special Education (K-12). He also earned a Master of Education Degree from Northwest Nazarene College.


Steve Novotny - Principal, Horizon Elementary School

Steve Novotny is a dedicated educator who has served public school students since 1997. He has worked as an elementary school assistant principal (White Pine, Taft - 2009-10; and Grace Jordan, Morley Nelson - 2010-11). Steve also taught social studies at the secondary school level (Rimrock High School, Bruneau-Grandview School District - 1997-98; Stanwood High School, Stanwood, WA - 1998-04, Les Bois Jr. High, 2005-06; and Capital High - 2006-09). 

In addition, Mr. Novotny taught health at Vallivue Middle School in Caldwell (2004-05) and served as alternative summer school principal (2011) and alternative summer school assistant principal (2010) in the Boise District.  Steve currently works as assistant principal at North Junior High School (2011-present).

Mr. Novotny is an effective instructional leader who believes in building a strong rapport with students, staff, parents and the entire school community to support academic excellence. He is committed to the District's Vision of preparing students for success in life beyond high school, whether it be in college, career or citizenship.

Steve earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Boise State University, his Master of Arts Degree in Education (Curriculum and Instruction) from Antioch University, Seattle, WA, and his Educational Administration Degree from Northwest Nazarene University.

 

 

Benjamin Simmonds - Assistant Principal, Boise High School

 

Benjamin Simmonds has served public school students since 2002.  He began his career as a 4th and 5th grade music specialist in the San Francisco Unified School District (2002-04), then worked as a music teacher in the Nampa School District (Central and Lincoln Elementary Schools - 2004-06) before moving to the Boise School District, where he has taught music to secondary students at Capital High School (Director of Choirs, AP Theory Instructor and Guitar Instructor - 2006 - present).

 

Mr. Simmonds is a committed and admired educator whose background includes working with a wide range of secondary students in different academic environments.  His focus is on providing each student with the opportunities to succeed both in school and in life.  Benjamin is a strong communicator and has a solid record in working with parents, students, colleagues and school community members in establishing a positive school culture of success.

 

Benjamin earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Vocal Performance from Linfield College, a  Bachelor of Music Degree in K-12 Education with emphasis in Choral Music from Boise State University and Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership from University of Idaho.
