Boise School District Announces 
Principal and Assistant Principal Appointments
 
Boise, ID  -- (04/13/2015) --  Boise School District announces the following principal and assistant principal appointments, effective July 1, 2015: 


Mark Bleazard - Assistant Principal, Borah High School

Mark Bleazard has worked in secondary education since 1992. During his public school career, he has held positions in the Boise School District as a secondary school teacher, coach, athletic director, summer school principal, assistant junior high school principal and is currently serving as Assistant Principal of Frank Church High High School.  

 

As Assistant Principal at Frank Church High, Mr. Bleazard has worked to establish a culture of academic success by working closely with parents and students.  Mr. Bleazard is a highly dedicated educator whose strong interpersonal skills and commitment to school-wide success will serve the students  and parents of Borah High School well.  

 

Mark earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Boise State University, his Master Degree in Education from Boise State University and  Principalship/Administrator Certification from Northwest Nazarene University.  

 

 

Nate Dennis -  Principal, Hillside Junior High School 

 

Nate Dennis has successfully served students in Idaho's public schools since 1997.  During that time he has worked as a social studies teacher (Eagle Middle School - 1997-98; Riverglen Jr. High - 1998-2006), elementary administrative intern (Whittier & Cynthia Mann - 2006-07), secondary assistant principal (Capital High - 2009-11; and North Jr. High - 2007-09) and currently serves as Principal of Les Bois Junior High School (2011 - present).  

 

As an effective school instructional leader,  Mr. Dennis has helped establish a culture of high academic expectations and behavior culminating in student and staff success at the schools where he has served as an administrator. He is committed to strong school community relations working to establish collaborative partnerships with parents, staff, students and the school community.  He is a dedicated education professional focused on implementing the District's vision of graduating each student prepared for success in college, career and citizenship.  

 

Nate earned his Bachelor's Degree in Social Studies and Secondary Education from Graceland University, Lamoni, IA and his Master Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Idaho.  

 

 

Derek Gardner - Principal, Frank Church High School 

 

Derek Gardner has served Boise's public school students since 2000.  During his education career he has served as an alternative secondary summer school principal (2007-10); secondary school teacher (Borah High School - 2001-09; Hillside Junior High - 2000-01); elementary school intern principal (Whittier and Morley Nelson - 2009-10); and elementary school principal (Whittier - 2010 to present). Mr. Gardner also coached wrestling at the secondary school level.  

 

Derek is a dedicated education professional who is committed to the District's Vision of graduating each student prepared for college, career and citizenship.  To that end he is focused on providing students with a strong academic and personal foundation.  He effectively works with parents, staff members and students to ensure each student has every opportunity to succeed both in school and in life.  He is a compassionate and inspirational instructional leader who believes in offering students the academic rigor necessary for them to succeed after high school.  

 

Mr. Gardner earned his Bachelor Degree in Secondary English Education and his Master Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Idaho.  

 



Kathy Hutchison - Principal, Maple Grove Elementary School 

 

Kathy Hutchison has successfully served students in public schools since 1991.  During her education career, she has worked as a 6th grade teacher (William Howard Taft Elementary, McKinley Elementary); as an assistant principal (Shadow Hills Elementary); and as a principal at Pierce Park for the last nine years.

 

As principal at Pierce Park Elementary, Kathy played an instrumental role in supporting the successful implementation of the Classical Curriculum, a rigorous program focused on grammar, logic and rhetoric.   

  

Kathy earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Boise State University and Master of Education Degree in Educational Leadership at Northwest Nazarene University.

 



Dan Knight - Assistant Principal, Frank Church High School 

Dan Knight currently serves students as an Assistant Principal at Borah High School. Before that he worked as an educator in Oregon for 23 years at Albany Options School in Albany, OR as an alternative high school principal, assistant principal at South Albany High School, Albany, OR and social studies teacher.

 

Mr. Knight is a collaborative, compassionate, energetic, can-do educator who has experience in working with alternative, low-income students as well as traditional students. He is a committed team member focused on providing an excellent educational program for each and every student.  He has successfully served on school improvement committees and helped to establish a culture of academic success. 

 

Dan has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Western Oregon University and a Master of Secondary Education Degree from Western Oregon University.

 

 


Sandy Winters - Principal, Capital High School

 

Sandy Winters has 24 years of experience educating Idaho's public school students. During that time she has served as a high school teacher and coach (Skyline High School in Idaho Falls- 1991-1993, Pocatello High School -  1993; Boise High School - 1994-1998; and Timberline High School - 1998-2003). At Timberline High School she also served as assistant athletic director (1998-99) and athletic director (1999-2003).  

 

She has also worked as secondary summer school principal (Boise District - 2003). In 2003, she was selected to serve as an intern principal at White Pine Elementary School.  In 2004, Mrs. Winters was named Principal of White Pine Elementary School, a position she held until 2011. From 2011 to 2013 Sandy successfully served as Principal of Riverside Elementary School. Today she effectively leads Riverglen Junior High School as that school's principal, a position she has held since 2013. 

 

Mrs. Winters is a respected instructional leader who is committed to academic excellence for all students. She is dedicated to creating a positive school environment that is conducive to successful learning and is committed to open communication and collaboration focused on helping each student achieve in school and in life.  She is focused on the District's Vision of preparing students for success in college, career and citizenship.  Mrs. Winters will serve the Capital High School community well and her leadership will build on the school's solid foundation of academic success.

 

Sandy earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and a Minor in Health from Boise State University in 1991 and a Master of Education Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Idaho in 2002.
