Boise, ID  -- 11/21/2014 --  Boise School District today announced the schedule for the selection of a new Trustee to fill a seat recently vacated. The term of this appointment will be to fulfill the six year term of Joan Boren, which will expire on September 6, 2016.

 

 

The process to fill this vacancy will be held as follows:

• Applications will be available beginning Friday, November 21, 2014 on the District website (www. boiseschools.org) or in the Clerk's office at 8169 W. Victory Road, Boise. NOTE: The Boise School District office will be closed from November 24 - 28, 2014 for Thanksgiving Break.

• The application must be returned and signed by the applicant in person to the Clerk of the Board no later than 4:30 p.m. on December 17, 2014. The form must be complete.

• Applicants are discouraged from contacting individual trustees. All applicant questions should be directed to the Clerk of the Board (854-4123 or karen.fox@boiseschools.org). Answers will be provided in a timely manner. 

• The Board of Trustees will hold applicant interviews and take a screening vote at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in the Board Room of the District Services Center, 8169 W. Victory Road, Boise.

• If necessary, finalists for the vacant Trustee seat will meet again with the Board for a twenty (20) minute interview on January 9, 2015 starting at 1:00 p.m.  Appointment times will be set by the Clerk of the Board.  No vote will be taken at this meeting.

• Finalist for the vacant seat will attend the January 12, 2015 Board Meeting where a final vote will be taken to select the new Trustee and the individual selected by the Board will then be sworn into office.

 

 

Qualifications of Trustees

To be eligible to serve as a Trustee an individual must be at least 18 years of age, an elector and resident of the Boise School District, and have no direct or indirect interest in District contracts.  Before entering upon his/her duties, he/she shall take and subscribe an oath faithfully to perform the duties of his/her trust according to law; and no Trustee shall have any pecuniary interest, either directly or indirectly, in any contract with said District, or in any supplies furnished to or for said District, nor shall any Trustee be surety for the performance of any contract with the said Board or District, or the agent or partner of any contractor with said Board or District, and no action shall be maintained or recovery had against said Board or District upon any contract or obligation in which any Trustee is so interested, but the same shall be void.
