Chef Brenda:  On October 16th, 3rd and 4th grade students at White Pine Elementary School were lucky to have Chef Brenda, a Boise based Registered Dietitian and a nationally recognized Culinary Chef, visit their school.  She conducted an enjoyable and enlightening demonstration that captured the students' attention and kept them engaged.  Chef Brenda featured her Confetti Ham and Cheese Pinwheel, and Hummus and Fresh Rainbow veggies (see following photos).  The students loved both recipes and even asked for more vegetables!  

 

 

 

School Lunch Recipe Contest:  The recipe contest for elementary school students, sponsored by Boise School District and Let's Move Boise was launched during Chef Brenda's demonstration.  If your student has not had a chance to submit a recipe; there's still time - the deadline to enter is November 6th.  Click here to learn more about the school lunch recipe contest.

 

Trivia Contest: Elementary students in the Boise School District had a chance to show their school lunch and nutrition expertise by participating in daily trivia contests. A special thank you goes to Let's Move Boise, Boise Parks and Recreation, Farmstead Corn Maze and Pumpkin Festival, and Linder Farms for donating prizes. 

 

Selfie Contest:   Secondary students throughout the Boise District celebrated the week by participating in a Selfie Contest.  Students who took selfies eating school lunch were eligible to be entered into a drawing for local prizes.   The following students from East Junior High School are pictured left and jumped at the chance to use their photography skills: Jonah Hultberg, Layton Wagner, Ed Osterberger, Cole Wendrowski, Danny Orrock, and Tanner Hartnett.  A special thank you goes to the Idaho Steelheads for donating prizes.
