2014 Valley Visions Celebrates Literary and Artistic Talent of Boise District Students

Boise, ID  -- 05/15/14 --  Talented writers and artists from Boise School District schools are featured in this year's Valley Visions publication. This annual collection of student writings and art work has become a popular publication with students and parents alike.

"Valley Visions celebrates students who excel in the arts," explained Dr. Stephanie Youngerman, District Language Arts/Art Supervisor. "When you flip through the pages of our 2014 Valley Visions publication you can't help but come away impressed with the level of talent and skill represented by these fine students."

It is an honor to have work selected for publication in Valley Visions. Of the over 400 writing and 300 art pieces submitted this year, 57 pieces of writing and 58 pieces of art work were accepted.

The judging team was made up of writing and art students from the Boise School District's five high schools, along with their advisors, as well as Language Arts Instructor David Archibald-Seiffer and Art Teacher Patricia Thorpe, both from Timberline High School. The adjudication is done blind, that is judges do not know the identity of the students who submit the work.

The Boise School District is fortunate to be able to sponsor a publication like Valley Visions that celebrates the literary and artistic talent of students in the District.  This is the 12th year that Valley Visions has been published.

"For some of these students, language arts and art are their passion and it shows in this publication," said Dr. Youngerman.  "As educators, we serve all students, those who excel in math and science, and/or those who excel in language arts and art. Valley Visions provides the venue for these students to highlight their talents and work in our community."
