BOARD SELECTS DOUG PARK FOR VACANT TRUSTEE SEAT

Boise, ID -- 06/10/2013 --The Boise School District Board of Trustees appointed Doug Park to its vacant seat Monday night, June 10, 2013, at the regularly scheduled Board meeting. Park replaces Janet Orndorff, who died in March after a battle with cancer.

Mr. Park was chosen from among ten candidates who applied for the vacant position. Each candidate filled out a written application, responding to several questions and providing background information. The entire Board then interviewed each candidate individually prior to Monday's Board meeting, then heard summary statements from the candidates as part of the Board agenda.

Mr. Park has extensive experience as a District parent volunteer, community service member and owner of his own consulting company specializing in Change Management.  From 1993 to 2013, he was involved in a wide range of community service activities, including serving as a parent and volunteer on a variety of District committees and teams.  He has also worked on a number of bond and levy issues in the District, strategy issues, planning issues, succession issues, structural issues, and has assisted on the District's strategic planning efforts.

"While I am convinced I could never fill the shoes of my dear friend Janet, I am honored and excited about the opportunity to serve on the Boise School District Board of Trustees," said Trustee Park. "I look forward to serving the children of the District by serving on the Boise School Board."

"We were pleased that so many quality candidates applied for the open seat," said Superintendent Don Coberly. "We are excited to have Doug Park join us as we plan for the future."

Newly selected Trustee Doug Park accepts the Oath of Office as presented by Boise School District Clerk of the Board Karen Fox.
