Principal Appointment
The Boise School District announces the following principal appointment, effective the beginning of the 2013-14 school year:
Tammy Burks - Principal, Cynthia Mann Elementary School
Tammy Burks has successfully served students in the Boise School District since 2000. During that time she has worked as a junior high school assistant principal (South Jr. High, 2011 to present), science teacher (Frank Church High School 2010-11, and Fairmont Jr. High, 2000-09) and elementary school principal intern (Horizon and Trail Wind elementary schools, 2009-10). Ms. Burks earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Environmental Health from Boise State University in 1998, a Master Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Boise State University in 2005, and a Master of Educational Leadership from Boise State University in 2009. Throughout her public school career, Ms. Burks has always put students first, serving her students with a commitment and dedication to do what is right for each and every child. She has served as an AVID Science Trainer and Program Presenter in the Boise School District. AVID is a college and career preparation program for students who are performing in the academic middle. Ms. Burks is a highly effective educator who continually strives to offer her services not only to students but also to fellow educators as she helps them improve their instructional strategies. As Principal, Ms. Burks will build on the solid academic foundation already in place at Cynthia Mann Elementary School.
