Boise School District Students Finish Among Top Teams in U.S. in 2013 Science Bowl

Boise, ID  -- 04/30/2013 --  Students from Boise School District's Treasure Valley Mathematics and Science Center earned 4th place nationally in the 2013 U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Middle School Science Bowl held recently in Washington, D.C. and 2nd place nationally in the electric car competition.

"What is especially impressive is that this team of students was coached by two Boise School District 10th and 11th grade students, Molla Omar Huq and Nishant Mohan," said Dr. Holly MacLean, TVMSC Principal.  "These two students attend Capital High School, as well as TVMSC.  They met with the Science Bowl team hopefuls at TVMSC after school hours several days each week to help these students prepare for the competition. Their hard work paid off!"

The TVMSC Middle School Science Bowl Team was awarded $1,000 that will go to their school.

"This year's High School team is in a rebuilding year, as most of last year's team members graduated," said Dr. MacLean. "They did extremely well in this year of fresh faces!   We are so pleased for all of these students and so proud of the way that they represented their State at Nationals!"
