Boise School District Announces Administrative Appointments
Boise, ID -- 04/09/2013 -- Boise School District announces the following administrative appointments, effective the start of the 2013-14 school year:
Tamara Fredrickson: Administrator of Student Services
Tamara Fredrickson earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of North Dakota and a Masters of Science Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Mary, Bismarck, N.D. She has significant experience in the health care field both in North Dakota and in Boise, Idaho. In addition, she has extensive experience collaborating with and working closely with the Boise School District Counseling Department. She is a licensed and certified nurse practitioner and has worked for a variety of medical centers and clinics where she managed health care for patients of all ages. She has also served students as a school nurse.
In 1999, Mrs. Fredrickson was hired by the Boise School District to oversee the District's Health Services program. Since that time, she has successfully supervised school health staff members and implemented the District's School Health Services Program. She has helped achieve the program's mission, which is to promote optimal health, to prevent disease and to support comprehensive health education of students, staff and families. Mrs. Fredrickson has played a key role in seeing that the District's Health Services Program advances the well-being, academic success and life-long achievement of all students. She is a well-respected administrator in the District and has worked closely with all school staff members, including school counselors, to see that the District's Health Services Program continues to successfully serve all students.
Mrs. Fredrickson has served the District's Counseling Department as a member on the Student Services Team to develop programs and staff training, and worked in partnership with multiple counselors and social workers to assist students at the school level as the member of the District's Behavioral Health Team. She's also assisted with the development of the District's electronic Student Services Report, Section 504 Handbook, and revision of the Child Protection Reporting Procedures, which included district-wide training. Mrs. Fredrickson has served on a task force for the development of the District's Suicide Prevention, Assessment and Intervention Procedures, collaborated with the Assistance League of Boise and District Counseling Department regarding implementation of the Operation School Bell program, facilitated information updates for staff regarding Homeless Education, participated in the workshop introducing the District's revised Mental Health Crisis Plan, and participated as a member of the Safe and Drug Free Schools Committee.
Mrs. Fredrickson's high level of professionalism, experience, knowledge, compassion and concern for each student will serve her well as she oversees the District's Health, Counseling and Social Work programs.
David Roberts: Technology Program Administrator
Mr. David Roberts has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Math, a minor in Computer Science, a minor in Coaching and a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Idaho. Mr. Roberts started his teaching career in the Nampa School District as a teacher and coach in 1988. He moved to Boise High School in 1989 where he served students as a math teacher and assistant coach in track and football. In 1990, he took a math teacher position and became the head basketball coach at Kellogg High School in Kellogg, Idaho. He returned to the Treasure Valley in 1995 as the new head basketball coach at Meridian High School and continued teaching math. In 2005, he accepted a position as assistant principal at Timberline High School, in the Boise School District. In 2009, with the opening of the newly built East Junior High School, Mr. Roberts was transferred to that school to become principal.
During his time as teacher, coach, assistant principal and principal, Mr. Roberts has excelled as an instructional leader who is respected by his peers, parents and students. He has always exhibited the highest standards in professional excellence and student achievement. He is an excellent administrator. Mr. Roberts has always been an advocate of technology and is looking forward to ushering in the "new" technologies that will enhance academic success among students. He also is excited to work with the overarching technologies in the business side of the District.
His education in Computer Science and his successful school administrative experience have prepared Mr. Roberts well to lead the Boise School District's Technology Department. He is committed to seeing that the District continues to provide appropriate and relevant technology that will advance learning opportunities for each and every student in the District.
Lisa Roberts: Administrator of Student Programs
Lisa Roberts earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Boise State University and a Masters of Education Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Idaho. In 1993, she began her public school education in the Boise School District as a classroom teacher at Garfield Elementary School. During that time as a teacher, she also worked as summer school principal where she established procedures, managed student enrollment and student transportation, and guided instruction for the remediation of students.
In 1998, and for three years thereafter, she served as an Intern Elementary Principal at a number of schools within the Boise School District. In 2001, Mrs. Roberts was selected to serve as Principal of Mountain View Elementary School. There, she successfully transformed the culture of the school leading to the selection of Mountain View to receive the A+ Excellence in Education Award and numerous other recognitions and accomplishments. In 2006, she accepted the position of principal at Jackson Elementary School where she served until Morley Nelson Elementary School was built to replace Jackson School. In 2008, she became the first principal of Morley Nelson Elementary School and has since succeeded in making that school a 5-star school.
Mrs. Roberts is a dedicated, knowledgeable, skilled and respected administrator who believes in the success of each and every child. Her instructional leadership skills are such that she has been asked to participate in a number of District professional development programs to improve instructional strategies among staff members. She has successfully presented workshops on a variety of topics. Mrs. Roberts is an advocate for students and for public schools. As Administrator of Student Programs, Mrs. Roberts will be responsible for areas of professional development that support the District's Strategic Plan.
