KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION/OPEN HOUSE

Boise, ID --03/07/2013 -Boise School District is meeting the challenge more than ever before to help young people learn, grow and prepare for the future. Teachers and support staff are working diligently to help each child become the best he or she can be!
For the District to be successful, we need the help of parents/guardians. Before any teaching can begin, it is important that a child be registered and participates in the District's Kindergarten Registration program. Waiting until the last minute, results in lost instructional time - valuable time a child needs to get off to a good start.
To that end, Boise School District will hold Kindergarten Registration/Open House on Thursday, March 14, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at your neighborhood school. Parents/guardians and their student are welcome to attend. By state law, students entering kindergarten must be five years old on or before September 1, 2013. Students entering first grade must be six years old on or before September 1, 2013.

Kindergarten registration forms will be available before the March 14th registration for parents/guardians who wish to complete the forms before registration day. The District has an Open Enrollment Policy whereby students who live outside the District boundaries are allowed to enroll in our schools tuition free, space permitting. For more information, call us at the District Curriculum Office at 854-4112, or click here for enrollment forms.
The District offers a tuition-based all-day kindergarten program; meaning parents who desire to have their child participate in the additional half-day kindergarten pay a tuition fee to support the extra-half day of instruction. All-day kindergarten sites include: Hidden Springs, Highlands, Liberty, Longfellow, Lowell, Pierce Park and Shadow Hills elementary schools.
In addition, Just For Kids, the District's child care program, will have staff members available at Kindergarten Registration at all of their 14 elementary school locations. Children entering Kindergarten are eligible to enroll in the Just For Kids 2013 Summer Program. Enrollment contracts, locations, and rates are on the JFK web site available by clicking here or call the Just For Kids District office at 854-6720. Parents/guardians may contract to attend two, three, four, or five days a week depending on their need.
Be sure your kindergartner gets off to a great start in the fall of 2013 by marking your calendar to attend Kindergarten Registration on March 14th.
