"You're a Good, Good Father"

Using Psalm 23, the elementary students learned about how shepherds care for their sheep. This Psalm is a beautiful picture of how Jesus, the Good Shepherd, cares for us, His sheep! Fifth grader, Luke Kelly, and Chris McCall, MCS Worship Director, led our singing worship together.

Award Winning Week at MCS

Our school's positive impact on the local community (and beyond) was recognized by two organizations this past week.

On Monday, representatives from the Dana Point VFW met with our faculty and staff to thank MCS for supporting their post's work as part of last year's Veterans Day program and pancake breakfast.
On Thursday, the Mesa Water District invited Rick Contreras to their quarterly board meeting to receive a "Mega Water Saver" award.  MCS was one of ten businesses to receive recognition for showing good stewardship in the midst of the current drought.

Family commUNITY Connection - APRIL

-click for newsletter-
Dear MCS Families -

Welcome back from Easter break, and welcome to April! This month we are focusing in on "Renewal."  It seems to be the perfect follow up to Easter, as we celebrate the power of the Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from death to life being available to do the same work in our own lives.  It also seems to be the perfect companion to the blessing of April showers, which are a physical reminder of how God brings new life to creation!

This month we have a really fun & creative family connection idea that is part science project, part devotional, and part spring decoration!  We definitely encourage you to create a few minutes of space to do this together, as it will provide days of conversation for your family around this idea of being transformed and made new.

Here's to a wonderFULL April!

Dear MCS Parents,

Our Pastors Chapel has become a special tradition here at Mariners Christian School. Each year we invite pastors from the churches our MCS families attend to come and enjoy a breakfast together, and then worship with our students in chapel.  This provides an opportunity for us to show our pastors how much we appreciate their impact on our families.

This year our Pastors Breakfast and Chapel will be held on Friday, May 6.

Middle School Talent Show - A HUGE Success!

Our Middle School Talent Show this morning was a HUGE success!  The event began with our very own Mr. Jones giving a brief message on where our talents come from, and how we can use our unique gifts to bring glory to God.  Our emcees for the morning were five 8th grade boys: David Wynn, Carson Klein, Timmy Bahadoor, Stephen McMillen, and Drew Formsma, who did a phenomenal job keeping us entertained in between acts!

Students were highlighted in musical acts such as vocal/instrumental performances, piano solos, an electric guitar solo, and a drum ensemble led by Mr. Lucas.  We also enjoyed viewing the pictures of 4 students who are gifted in the art of photography.  6th, 7th, and 8th grade students courageously brought their God-given talents before their classmates and shined!  What a joy it was to see our students embracing and nurturing the talents God has given them!

Schoology Video Tutorials for Parents

We believe Schoology is a tremendous support for all parents and want you to know how to access and use all it has to offer. Below you will find six video tutorials to explain a different aspect of Schoology. We are confident this support will ensure all parents are becoming fully trained and Schoology experts:

Weekly Wednesday Worship Discipleship Group
Continues Wednesdays Weekly, 8:00-8:45AM

Held in the Learning Commons (formerly the library) every Wednesday morning from 8:00-8:45AM, just show up ready with a heart for worship (no need to sign up in advance).

During this time, students will learn what it truly means to be a worshipper of God with a lens for applying that knowledge toward leading worship. It will include reading and discussions on systematic theology, servant leadership, and biblical understanding of who God is and why He's worthy of worship.

Students participating in this discipleship group do not need to be on the worship team but all who want to learn more about worshipping our God are invited to attend. All middle school students, 6th through 8th grade are invited to participate! If you have any questions, please contact Mr. McCall at
[email protected]

The Student Success Center

Did you know the middle school has a Student Success Center? The goal of SSC is to support students in achieving academic goals by providing homework help and strengthening skills in organization, time management, and test preparation. We want to teach students strategies that will help them achieve success in both their academic careers and for the rest of their lives beyond MCS. Students who want to take advantage of this tremendous resource can stop by the SSC located upstairs next to the administration office to meet Mrs. Willis, receive more information, and sign up for the after school help. The SSC is open to students during the following times:
  • Tuesday- 6th grade only: 3:00-3:30
  • Wednesday-8th grade only: 3:00-3:30
  • Thursday-7th grade only: 3:00-3:30
  • Friday- Any grade: 3:00-3:30
To provide the best support, it is imperative students sign up prior to attending. We are excited to provide this great resource to our students and are thrilled to work with students throughout the year!
