Greetings!

The KTA Club Connection helps your club stay informed about club-specific KTA activities and events.  Please share this newsletter with your club officers and members; if you'd like, you can forward this email (using the "forward" link at the very bottom of the newsletter) to your entire club mailing list.

KTA's member clubs are the backbone of Keystone Trails Association.  Keystone Trails Association was created by - and for - hiking clubs like yours throughout the state of Pennsylvania.  Together, we are Keystone Trails Association.

FALL HIKING WEEKEND:
ONE WEEK LEFT TO REGISTER

Registrations are due by September 25!

KTA will be headed to the heart of Pennsylvania in Clearfield this year for our Fall Hiking Weekend, from October 12-14, 2012. With a base camp at the Comfort Inn of Clearfield, volunteer hike leaders from the Quehanna Area Trails Club will guide both new and experienced hikers through the best trails in the area.  On Saturday, October 13, members of the KTA Council will come together during KTA's Fall Council Meeting from 4-6 PM to discuss important issues regarding Keystone Trails Association, KTA's member organizations, and hikers/hiking trails throughout Pennsylvania.  Does your club have a concern they would like to address at the Council meeting?  If your club has an item that you would like to have included on the meeting's Agenda, please let us know by October 1.   Saturday evening, KTA friends will partake in a hearty and delicious buffet, KTA's annual General Membership Meeting, and the presentation of the 2012 Hiking Awards.

Want to stay the whole weekend?  KTA members and their friends will be able to enjoy hiking, activities, meals, meetings, and camaraderie in Clearfield, Clearfield County, PA. The Quehanna Area Trails Club and the Ridge and Valley Outings Club have teamed up with KTA to offer a wide range of interesting and engaging activities for our Fall Hiking Weekend participants!   For more information about the Fall Hiking Weekend, or how to register, click here.

SUPER HIKE RECAP

If you have not already seen the results posted on our Super Hike forum and on Facebook, you can access them here.   We had 266 finishers that trudged through heat and rain and rock and mud to complete all 28.4 miles of the fourth annual Susquehanna Super Hike and Ultra Trail Run.  A hearty congratulations to each our finishers, as well as a special shout-out to our top male and female finishers:  Joshua Jamison, 34, from York, PA, at 5:16:21, and Christine Anderson, 27, from Pequea, PA, at 5:40:06.  Full results are posted online here.

On behalf of the staff at Keystone Trails Association and the 502 registered Super Hike participants, we want to express our most sincere appreciation for the help our 110+ volunteers provided before, during, and/or after our fourth annual Susquehanna Super Hike and Ultra Trail Run on September 8.   We could not have done it without their assistance! A special thanks to members of the Lancaster Hiking Club, York Hiking Club, Cumberland Valley Appalachian Trail Club, Susquehanna Appalachian Trail Club, and the Day Hikers of Central PAMeetup Group.  It was a LONG - and soggy - day for many of you, and the cheerful dispositions, enthusiasm and energy that you exuded throughout the day helped keep all of us - staff, volunteers, and participants - plugging along.  Thank you so much!
