With a base camp at the Comfort Inn of Clearfield, volunteer hike leaders from the Quehanna Area Trails Club will guide both new and experienced hikers through some of the most beautiful parts of the Pennsylvania Wilds. Clearfield County is close to the center of PA, and is brimming with beautiful scenery, bustling and historic towns, and lots of things to do! It's not too late to register -- for more information about how you can join us for this fantastic weekend, click here.

Message from our Director
by Curt Ashenfelter
Keystone Trails Association's membership is, to say the least, diverse. We range in age, gender, occupation, and geography. One thing, however, we all have in common: we love to hike. In particular: We love to hike on Pennsylvania's trails! Admittedly, our Commonwealth's hiking trails aren't the top destination for Earth's hikers. KTA's members know, though, that just because our mountains aren't the highest in the world-and the views not the most spectacular on the planet-that our footpaths are unique, challenging, and provide absolutely breathtaking views of Pennsylvania's gorges, rivers, hills, farmlands, and-yes-small towns and cities. Official Notice
The KTA Nominating Committee has submitted a slate of candidates for election to the Board of Directors. The election will be held at the Council Meeting on October 13, in Clearfield, PA. Current Board members Wanda Shirk and Steve Stroman are seeking re-election for the 2012-2015 term.
Seeking election for a first term is Robert Best, for the term ending October, 2015. Prior to 1980, Bob was an active member of the Wilmington Trail Club, and has about 25 years of experience as a runner. He has hiked the entire Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania, and hikes regularly with the Susquehanna Appalachian Trail Club. Bob has been a KTA member and avid trail maintainer since 1991, and hails from York, Pennsylvania. He believes that KTA is a "worthwhile and viable environmental organization that does a great job with limited financial resources." The slate of Officers proposed for the 2012-2013 term include Thyra Sperry, President; Wanda Shirk, Vice-President; Norman LaCasse, Secretary; and Ernest Werstler, Treasurer. Officers are elected by Council and serve one-year terms.
