Seeking Super Volunteers
 

Volunteers are needed for the fourth Susquehanna Super Hike & Ultra Trail Run scheduled for Saturday, September 8, 2012.  Dozens of different volunteer opportunities are available, including registration, photographer, picnic, parking, checkpoints, trail sweeps, and many more!  Over 100 volunteers are needed to make this terrific event a success. Are you considering registering to participate in the Super Hike itself?  There are less than 75 spots left (out of our 500 limit) so register soon!  The early-bird deadline is August 19!

 

Quehanna 5 Hike the Quehanna Trail with KTA! 

 

KTA will be headed to the heart of Pennsylvania in Clearfield this year for our Fall Hiking Weekend, from October 12-14, 2012.  With a base camp at the Comfort Inn of Clearfield, volunteer hike leaders from the Quehanna Area Trails Club will guide both new and experienced hikers through some of the most beautiful parts of the Pennsylvania Wilds. Clearfield County is close to the center of PA, and is brimming with beautiful scenery, bustling and historic towns, and lots of things to do!  Learn more.

 

Maintainer's Corner: MST Trail Crew

We had fourteen volunteers for the July 13-15 Trail Care weekend on the Mid State Trail (Tioga Region).  The crew worked on private property, state game land, state forest land, and Corps of Engineers property, clearing existing trail.  Read more.

Around the Clubs: CVATC Dedicates Parking Lot

Cumberland Valley Appalachian Trail Club (CVATC) dedicated its newest parking lot at Trindle Road (Route 641), midway between Carlisle and Mechanicsburg, on Saturday, May 26, 2012. The dedication began at 10 AM, followed by two guided hikes.  Read more.

Dave Julian hails from York, Pennsylvania, and has been hiking for about 51 of his 52 years on this planet!   He enjoys hiking because "[it] is not just a physical activity. It's an opportunity to explore new places and discover the beauty of our natural surroundings, which are sometimes overlooked and under appreciated. To all of you who did not attend Prowl the Sproul, we missed you and you missed a special weekend of hikes. The weather was cool, 59 degrees on Friday, 63 degrees on Saturday and a little warmer on Sunday. The hiking trails were great, well-maintained, challenging and beautiful.  Read more.
