SUPER VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Are you free on Saturday, September 8? If so, please consider volunteering for KTA's fourth annual Susquehanna Super Hike and Ultra Trail Run!  Over 100 volunteers are needed to make this event a success.  We have opportunities for individuals, couples, families and groups -- just let us know what you would like to do, and how much time you can offer!  Event volunteers receive a Super Hike t-shirt and free admission to the after-picnic.  To volunteer, please click here

WILL YOUR CLUB PROWL THE SPROUL WITH KTA?

Every year, Keystone Trails Association hosts a camping and hiking weekend in the Sproul State Forest, with a base camp at Renovo's Western Clinton Sportsmen's Association.  This casual and fun "Prowl the Sproul" weekend brings about 100 KTA members from throughout the Commonwealth together for campfire camaraderie, a cookout, wine and cheese party, and - of course! - a full schedule of guided hikes, for all ages and ability levels.  This is a great event for singles, couples, small and large groups of friends, entire families, even entire clubs... essentially, this event is a ton of fun for anyone that enjoys hiking, camping, and great views!

Not a camper?  Stay at a nearby hotel, and hike with us during the day!  Hard-core hiker?  Consider joining our 3-day exclusive Donut Hole Slackpack!  Nervous about too-hot weather?  We have a number of 'cool' hike options for those that want to see some great views (or dip their toes in a gorgeous waterfall) while still beating the July heat!   For the 2012 Hike Schedule, click here

Hope to see you at the Sproul, from July 20 to July 22! For more information, or to register, please click here.

BEAUTY BENEATH THE DIRT

What happens when you put a lawyer, an Ivy grad, and a city chick on the Appalachian Trail?  Beauty Beneath the Dirt takes a profound look at how three young people are affected by one of the most challenging outdoor adventures in existence today.  For more information about this new film, click here.  There will be screenings in June and July in Chambersburg, Boiling Springs, and Pine Grove

AROUND THE CLUBS

WARRIOR TRAIL ASSOCIATION:  Last month's work hike was a tough but fulfilling one. I've always said that backpacking or hiking is a combination of spiritual journey and athletic event; an opportunity to commune with nature while testing your strength. Read more.

LANCASTER HIKING CLUB:  We lucked out overall on the Conestoga Trail from the past year's storms! Tropical Storm Lee only caused us to lose some stiles over an electric fence that KTA helped install about 10 years ago, and a board walkway was lost upstream from Snavely's Mill. Read more.
