Greetings!
KTA's member clubs are the backbone of Keystone Trails Association. Keystone Trails Association was created by - and for - hiking clubs like yours throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Together, we are Keystone Trails Association. The KTA Club Connection helps your club stay informed about club-specific KTA activities and events. Please share this newsletter with your club officers, and consider reporting on at least one item of interest with your club at your next meeting. Feel free to forward this email (using the "forward" link at the very bottom of the newsletter) to your entire club mailing list. Together, we can raise awareness within the hiking community of Keystone Trails Association and our representation of hikers in Pennsylvania's capital. |

REMINDER:
SHARE YOUR NEWS
Has your club conducted an unusual hike, outstanding program, or celebrated a milestone event?
Please let us know your club's news as soon as possible so that we can share your news in our newsletter and/or our Facebook page.

3 WAYS YOUR LOCAL CLUB CAN HELP
|
| SLACKPACK WITH KTA'S WANDA SHIRK!
During KTA's 9th annual Prowl the Sproul hiking weekend (July 20 to July 22, 2012) in the Sproul State Forest of western Clinton County, twenty lucky hikers will have the opportunity to slackpack a 40 mile section of the Donut Hole Trail, led by KTA's Vice President, Wanda Shirk, and two of our most beloved DCNR guides! Not up for such an intense workout? Join the remaining Prowl the Sproul-ers on a variety of short, medium, and long hikes throughout the three-day weekend! Base camp is at the Western Clinton Sportsmen's Association. For more information, or to register, please click here.

| COUNCIL COMMITTEES
Are you, or is someone in your club, interested in advancing the agenda of the local clubs, and KTA as a whole, through committee work? Please consider joining one of KTA's many committees, which focus on conservation and advocacy, grants and loans, nominations, publications, trail care, trail club services, finance, and membership and development. Our committees need your input and participation! Only so much can be accomplished during our biannual, 2-hour long Council meetings -- with strong, active committees, much more can be done year-round to advance the goals and efforts of Keystone Trails Association and its member clubs. If you are interested in learning more about committee work, please let us know!
For more information about the Council, the roles and responsibilities of the Council, and the benefits of being an active member of the KTA Council, please click here.

YOUR REPRESENTATION IN HARRISBURG
by Curt Ashenfelter, Executive Director
In the next few weeks I will be meeting with DCNR to learn exactly on a lease-by-lease basis where gas leases have occurred in relation to hiking trails in state forests and state parks. A detailed examination of the lease sites will reveal where trails may pass nearby. Read more.
