GBAR Wins Chamber's 2012 Community Advocate of the Year Award!
We are delighted to inform you that the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce has named GBAR as the winner of the 2012 Community Advocate of the Year Award, recognizing our "...significant contributions to the improvement and enrichment of the Greater Binghamton area as a whole." This honor was presented to GBAR at the Chamber's Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon, held Tuesday, November 13.
This is indeed a honor, and a well-deserved recognition of the dedicated efforts of our Community Service Committee and our Members to "...serve the Community in which we live and work" over the years. Congratulations to Community Service Chair Jenn Greenmun and her team, and thank you to all of our Members who have contributed to our efforts.
Pat Kilts accept the 2012 Community Advocate of the Year Award from Chamber President Lou Santoni.

President's Message
It is my heartfelt wish that each and every one of you celebrate a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families and friends.
We at GBAR have much to be thankful for this year. It has not been a year without its challenges but with the constant effort of our Officers, Board of Directors, Committee Chairs and Members, and excellent staff, we have met them and will be going forward with added strength and success for our Members.
I personally want to thank everyone for support given me and my family during our most difficult time, and will remember you kind thoughts and expressions of love forever. You are the best extended family anyone could wish for.
On a very happy note, I was so proud to accept the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce 2012 Community Advocate of the Year Award at their Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon yesterday. We are indeed honored by this recognition for the years of great service given back to the community in which we love to live and work.
My thanks to the Community Service Committee, (the Heart committee) all its Members, as well as our Government Affairs Committee, who advocate for good government, schools, fair taxes, etc. I would be remiss if I didn't thank the Membership for all the support you give when called upon to donate to our projects of which we would not succeed without it.
My very best to you all, enjoy your holiday with gratefulness, and may God, who has blessed us so much, continue his blessings in the coming year ahead.
Pat

Triple Play is Still On!
Some of you have asked whether Triple Play is still on given the impact of Hurricane Sandy on Atlantic City. I've just received notification from NYSAR that there are no plans to cancel the convention. All of the convention headquarter's hotels are up and running and the convention center, which is currently is being used as a temporary shelter, comfort station and distribution center for food, water, and ice, will be ready to host our event in December.

Got Ethics? We've Got Classroom and On-Line Courses to Meet Your Requirements and Preferences!
The Quadrennial Ethics period expires at the end of 2012 - each REALTORŪ must have taken a 3-hour Ethics course by then. If NAR's records show you haven't yet satisfied this requirement, we will send you a reminder each month. But don't worry! You can meet your requirement in two ways:
- CLASSROOM: We've scheduled 1 more classroom Ethics course this year, to be instructed by Anne Schoonover. The date is December 4 at the Association Offices from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Click here for registration instructions.
- ON-LINE: Click here to visit our on-line CE provider, the CE Shop, and sign up! Be sure to use the Promo Code GIVE10 to get yourself a 10% discount, and The CE Shop will also contribute another 10% of the purchase price to Habitat for Humanity, in recognition of the Thanksgiving Holidays.
Please be aware that NAR Rules dictate that failure to meet the requirement will result in suspension of Membership for the first two months (January and February) of the year following the end of 2012 or until the requirement is met, whichever occurs sooner. On March 1 of that year, the Membership of a Member who is still suspended as of that date will be automatically terminated. |
