JUST FOR GIRLS

March 8-14 is Girl Scout Spirit Week!

Girl Scout Week is celebrated each March, starting with Girl Scout Sunday and ending with Girl Scout Sabbath on Saturday, and it includes the Girl Scout Birthday, March 12.

March 8: Girl Scout Sunday
Contact your place of worship or join other Girl Scouts in celebration at Opportunity Christian Church, 10:30am at 708 N Pines, Spokane Valley.

March 9:  Make a Difference Monday
Make a Difference Monday is designed to encourage and inspire us to live each day on purpose-making a meaningful difference in someone's life in even the smallest of ways. How can you make a difference?
Don't forget to share what you have done on our Facebook page.

March 10: "Good Turn" Tuesday
The Girl Scout slogan, which has been used since 1912, is "Do a good turn daily." The slogan is a reminder of the many ways girls can contribute positively to the lives of others. It can be as simple as carrying a load of groceries or as big as saving a life. It doesn't have to be daily, or be a big service project. Walk around your community to see what needs to be done. Maybe an elderly neighbor could use some gardening help? Or you could bring supplies to a food pantry? Share your "good turn" on our Facebook pages.

March 11: Wellness Wednesday
Whether they're hiking, trying a new sport, or preparing tasty, nutritious snacks, Girl Scouts enjoy many fun ways to lead healthy lives. Health and fitness have been part of Girl Scouting since girls ran foot races in 1912!  So let's get moving!  Plan for your wellness by checking out Summer Camp information at www.gsewni.org and share how you will get moving.

March 12: Girl Scout Birthday Thursday
Today is the Girl Scout Birthday! On this day in 1912, Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low assembled a group of eighteen girls from Savannah, Georgia for the first ever Girl Scout meeting. Low believed that all girls should have the opportunity to develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. She organized service projects, outdoor adventures, and enrichment programs to get girls out of the house and into the community. Encourage your girls to wear their Girl Scout uniform or Girl Scout logo attire to school to celebrate the Girl Scout Birthday.  Don't forget to share your party pictures with us!

March 13: Favorite Girl Scout Food Friday

Make and post a picture of your favorite Girl Scout meal (catastrophe for breakfast, foil dinner, or s'mores for dessert). Girls can try a great snack from any of their Journey books.

March 14: Girl Scout Sabbath
Girl Scout Sunday and Girl Scout Sabbath give girls an opportunity to attend their place of worship and be recognized as a Girl Scout. If a place of worship is the group sponsor, girls may perform a service, such as greeting, ushering, or doing a flag ceremony. These days can also be a time when girls explore other faiths.
