Girl Scouts are in your neighborhood taking your order for your favorite Girl Scout cookies. Still just $4 per box or 5 for $20 (+ tax in Idaho). To connect with a Girl Scout in your neighborhood or to get details about the upcoming cookie rallies contact [email protected].  

 

The Cookie Program is a great way for Girl Scouts to learn about the 5 Skills for Girls. We are so excited to once again offer the Super Six cookie varieties-Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Savannah Smiles and Do-si-dos.

HER DAY-Defy the Ordinary-Uniquely ME! 

  

March 1  
at the Spokane Program Center

 

At the annual HER Day (Healthy, Energetic, Resourceful) event girls learn to make great choices by attending workshops centered around building self-esteem and creating a completely healthy YOU!

 

The fun and pamper day is for girls who are in grades K-12 and offers sessions unique to each age group. You can change the way you look or you can change the way the world looks at girls. The self-esteem workshops include good nutrition, style and fitness, friendships and family, relationship building and much more. 

 

Lunch will be provided for girls in grades 6-12  (sub sandwich, chips, fruit or veggies and a drink). Refer to the times and prices for each age group below. Join us for a day of pampering and learn how to take care of yourself inside and out. 

 

Grades K-3: 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Girl Scout Hostel, $10 per girl (SWAG included)

Grades 4-5: 1-3:30 p.m., Girl Scout Hostel, $10 per girl (SWAG included)

Grades 6-12: 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Girl Scout Program Center, $20 per girl (lunch and SWAG included)

Register for Women's Weekend 2014!
Imagine that it's really warm, you're at Lake Coeur d'Alene, relaxing and being pampered for an entire weekend. That's exactly what Women's Weekend is all about! Women's Weekend 2014 is September 5-7, the weekend after Labor Day. The cost is $225 per person.

 

The weekend includes all your accommodations, gourmet cuisine and many activities (some activities such as massage have an added fee). This annual fundraising event is held at Camp Four Echoes at Lake Coeur d'Alene and is for women only! Funds raised from the weekend benefit girl camperships, scholarships and programming. Community Leadership Events

Coeur d'Alene Community Leadership event was held on Thursday, January 23 at the Coeur d'Alene Resort. First Lady of Idaho Lori Otter was the key note speaker. She was joined by four Girl Scouts, Hannah Trueblood, Hannah Dansereau, Emma Keith and Josselyn Sutich. All gave inspiring presentations about the impact being a Girl Scout has had on their lives. BIG thank you to Vickie Roberge, Chris Monroe and Mindy Thorp, their efforts were a huge key to success! Spokane Community Leadership luncheon, whose premier sponsor is Numerica Credit Union, will be on Wednesday, April 16 at the Spokane Convention Center. We are very excited to welcome the CEO of Girl Scouts USA Anna Maria Chavez as our key note speaker. She will share the message of the Girl Scout Movement with business and community leaders, strongly encouraging them to support this important effort. This is our largest fundraising event in our council, guests understand that their RSVP and attendance is a commitment to make a minimum suggested donation of $100 to support the Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. We are currently seeking additional sponsors for this event, please contact  [email protected] if you know of a business sponsor interest.

COUNCIL WIDE NEWS

New Employee Joins the Council

 

We would like to introduce you to Mara Sorkin, our new Membership, Volunteer, and Program Coordinator for Tri-Cities, Walla Walla, Moses Lake and surrounding areas.  While Mara takes over primary support of
our membership and volunteers in the region, Sulema Pacheco-Granfield will be focusing her attention on program development in order to provide girls and volunteers quality activities and robust learning experiences.   


Mara comes to the Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho with a background in event planning, program administration, project management, and fundraising, making her a great fit for our growing region. Based in Walla Walla, Mara has worked at Whitman College planning major events for the President's Office, as well as overseeing volunteers and content for a major art festival in New York City. Previously, she volunteered with the Girl Scouts of Southwest Colorado and is especially excited to join our GSEWNI council this month so that she can help support troops during cookie season.

Japanese Cultural Center - Mukagawa Fort Wright, 
Spokane, WA 

Celebrate Hina Matsuri, the Japanese Doll Festival with female students from Mukagowa Fort Wright. You will try on yukata, (traditional summer gowns), learn origami, practice Japanese calligraphy, play with time-honored toys and make a snack of rice balls. You will aslo help the students practice their English and learn from them about their country. You're invited to bring your own doll to share and make part of the Hina Matsuri display for the day. Includes patch and light snack. $10 per girl...no charge for accompanying adult.

Girl Scouts will "Wear the Green" and walk together to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Exact
meeting place and time to be determined, (near Arena parking lot, about 11:00am.) Girls should bring their own adult to accompany them. Girl Scout volunteer, Jenny Steeber, is organizing the Girl Scouts unit.

Summer camp sessions at Camp Four Echoes | 6.25.14 - 8.7.14
(for girls entering grades 1-12)   

Sessions begin June 25 and run through August 7, 2014. There are more than 32 sessions to choose from ranging in length from 4-15 days. Each session is geared toward a specific age and interest level. Prices range from $165 (four days) to $550 (15 days). You don't have to be a Girl Scout to attend Camp Four Echoes−you just have to be a girl. Invite your friends and you each receive a discount*.  Register by April 1, to receive a discount*.
