Anemia Management in the China Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS)

As more and more patients with end-stage renal disease in China are able to access hemodialysis, it is important to study the management of accompanying anemia. Researchers examined China Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS) data and found that a substantial proportion of hemodialysis patients in the China DOPPS do not meet hemoglobin (Hgb) targets.

Researcher Awards
Zee and Karaboyas receive awards

Jarcy Zee was awarded a 2016 Nephrotic Syndrome Study Network (NEPTUNE) Career Development Fellowship. Dr. Zee's project will identify the optimal statistical methods for analyzing the complex renal biopsy data collected in NEPTUNE and will ultimately help to achieve NEPTUNE's mission of improving the diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes in Nephrotic Syndrome patients.

Angelo Karaboyas was awarded a 2016 European Renal Association-European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTA) travel grant for his outstanding abstract entitled "Association between serum ferritin and mortality: US and EURODOPPS findings" which will be presented as an oral communication at the congress in Vienna at the end of May.
