Sweeping changes to U.S. dialysis reimbursement and regulatory policies for ESA use in 2011 were expected to reduce ESA utilization and hemoglobin levels. In a paper published in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, researchers used data from the Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS) to estimate and compare time trends in ESA dose and hemoglobin levels among hemodialysis patients in the United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Japan.

The Peritoneal Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (PDOPPS) is designed to advance the understanding of optimal practices for peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. In a paper published recently in the journal Peritoneal Dialysis International, researchers describe their methods to collect and analyze data that will lead to improved patient care.

Inside Arbor Research

This November, Arbor Research held a donation drive for the HIV/AIDS Resource Center (HARC), which provides HIV-related services to more than 3,000 people in southeast Michigan each year through direct care, prevention, and outreach activities. Arbor Research employees collected food, personal care, and cleaning items for HARC's food pantry to assist HARC clients in meeting their nutritional and hygienic needs. Employees contributed over 2,600 items to the food pantry - nice work, team!
