Canadian Dialysis Data Available from the DOPPS Practice Monitor

The Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS) is expanding the DOPPS Practice Monitor (DPM) to share data from hemodialysis facilities in Canada. Similar to the DPM in the United States, which was launched in November 2010, the Canadian DPM will provide up-to-date trends in clinical practice. Learn more about this exciting addition here.

Simulation Research Informs LURN Study

Dr. Victor Andreev will present the abstract "Simulation of unsupervised classification of Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction patients based on the protein microarray data" at the 2nd International Caparica Conference on Urine Omics & 2nd International Caparica Conference In Translational Nephrology, in Caparica, Portugal, September 28-30, 2015.

The research presented in this abstract develops a method to estimate the sample size for the Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction Research Network (LURN) biomarker study. The authors developed a simulator to estimate sample size for the study, minimizing misclassification. Ultimately, the team hopes to develop this work into a publically-available, open-source web tool.

The NephCure Kidney Network led by Arbor Research and the NephCure Kidney International has been approved for a three-year $1.5 million funding award by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) as part of the second phase of PCORnet, the National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network.

"Phase I of PCORnet was dedicated to establishing core infrastructure," noted Dr. Elizabeth Cope, co-principal investigator of the NephCure Kidney Network. "During this time, our team built a vibrant community of engaged patients supported by a robust repository with detailed data. Continuing in Phase II, this information will support and accelerate research by driving development of new clinical endpoints, improving recruitment and retention strategies, and assisting researchers with study planning."
