Charitable Giving

On Saturday, October 12, 2013, members of the Arbor Research staff volunteered for a building project with Habitat for Humanity in Ypsilanti, Michigan. We were happy to participate in creating a home for a family in our community.

New Findings on Hemodialysis Treatment Time to be Presented at ASN Kidney Week
dialysis

Longer dialysis treatment time and lower ultrafiltration rates are associated with lower mortality in hemodialysis patients. However, shorter treatment is still common in the US. Researchers from Arbor Research and the University of Michigan examined US dialysis practices with respect to treatment time and ultrafiltration rates, characterizing patients receiving longer treatment. These findings will be presented at ASN Kidney Week.

This talk, titled "Hemodialysis Facility and Patient Level Treatment Time and Ultrafiltration Rate Practices in the United States," will be part of the CKD Health Services Research session on Saturday, November 9th at 4:30 p.m.  For a full schedule of Arbor Research presentations at Kidney Week, please click here.

In 2011, hemodialysis policies in the United States changed in two important ways: a bundled payment system for hemodialysis was implemented and modified dosing standards for erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESA) were introduced. At ASN Kidney Week, the DOPPS will give a presentation on analyses comparing anemia practices in the US, since these policy changes, to data from Europe and Japan during the same time period.

This talk, titled "International Comparisons Illustrate Effect of Payment and Regulatory Changes on Anemia Practice in US Hemodialysis Patients: The Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study," will take place on Thursday, November 7th at 4:30 p.m. For a full schedule of Arbor Research presentations at Kidney Week, please click here.
