Miraculous Mushrooms:
A Food Powerhouse
By Grace O
Most of the people I know have very strong feelings about mushrooms-they either love them or hate them. One of the beauties of mushrooms is that they usually take on the flavor of whatever they are cooked with. If it's garlic and olive oil, that's what they taste like. If they're in a spicy Asian stir fry, they take on those flavors. One thing is certain -- mushrooms are healthy little powerhouses of immunity boosters, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. We Have a Winner!
By FoodTrients
Congratulations to Deidre Mercer, our April Crock-Pot winner! Please write us at info@foodtrients.com!

Our March winner, Lauralee Hensley, had this to say:

To Grace O and the FoodTrients Team

The Crock Pot just came via Federal Express.  It is so nice, and wonderful. It is actually a tad bigger than the Crock Pot I had for many years. This contest actually started the day after the Crock Pot I had ended up with a fine hairline crack.  No one dropped it or anything, I think it was just age related, as I imagine it was in our family for about 20 years.  It will be put to good use.  I'm thinking of a big pot of vegetable barley soup right now for St. Patty's day a big pot of potatoes, cabbage, carrots, onions.  The possibilities are endless.
Thank you and the sponsors so very, very much.

Lauralee Hensley

Prune and Walnut Bars Make a Delicious Dessert!
By Grace O
Prunes and walnuts are both exceedingly high in antioxidant power. Both are listed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture on the ORAC (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) scale with over 10,000 units. Prunes also are a great source of vitamin C. I've combined these two age-defying powerhouses into one great dessert.
