Whole-breast ultrasound brings significant screening benefits. This article suggests that freehand ultrasound is not sufficient for whole-breast ultrasound imaging.

Yearly screening breast US benefits women with dense tissue. Although the optimal frequency of screening breast ultrasound for women with mammographically dense breast tissue remains under debate, study data presented at last week's RSNA 2012 meeting suggest that this population would benefit from yearly scans.



Researchers at RSNA Determine Molecular Breast Imaging Improves Early Detection in High-Risk Women. 364 high-risk patients who had a recent, negative mammogram underwent an MBI examination. In this group, MBI detected breast cancer in nine patients.
