NOVEMBER NUMBERS ARE IN
So Far 2014 is Looking Good!

"Sixth consecutive month of double-digit growth from CTC's overseas markets was offset by slowdown in US visitors."     - CTC Tourism Snapshot

November 2014 numbers are out and the Canadian travel industry is overall performing well. Below are some key findings:

The CTC's success in overseas markets is proof that marketing is doing its job which is why TIAC is continuing to inform government the importance of the Connecting America marketing initiative.

PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE MARINE MAMMAL REGULATIONS

TIAC is Collecting Comments From Operators Who May be Affected by Proposed Regulations

On December 31, 2014, TIAC submitted a response to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans' (DFO) proposed amendments to the Marine Mammal Regulations under the Fisheries Act.

The submission deadline was January 2, 2015, however we are pleased to advise that DFO has granted TIAC an extension to collect comments from its members' and submit a revised submission no later than February 13th.

TIAC believes that DFOs proposed regulations pose a significant threat to dozens of responsible and successful operators across Canada whose practices have developed in consultation with, or endorsed as safe by, marine scientists.

TIAC's position asserts that the current legislative and regulatory framework which includes the Species at Risk Act, Marine Conservation and Parks Canada Acts is sufficient to clearly define appropriate behaviour in these protected spaces.

TIAC is pleased to invite you to submit your comments and share the information with other operators in your area who may be affected by the proposed regulations.

Please submit your comments to TIAC by end of day February 10th by completing, saving and return the linked form to jtaylor@tiac.travel

DFO will only accept a revised submission from TIAC and has asked that businesses/organizations not submit their own in order to prevent duplication. TIAC will provide DFO with a list of organizations represented or consulted.
