Coming Soon to a City Near You: The Tourism Town Hall Series

  

TIAC is pleased to announce details of the inaugural Tourism Town Hall series, a collection of open meetings between TIAC, the Canadian Tourism Commission and grassroots tourism stakeholders.
 
These FREE interactive sessions are intended to provide you with unparalleled insight on how TIAC and the CTC are working to grow the visitor economy.  The open forum also provides a unique opportunity for you to share your ideas on how we can make Canada's tourism industry more competitive. 
 

TIAC Calls for Harmonization of Border Processes at Canada-U.S. Border Discussion in Washington
 

 

A bilateral approach that facilitates the safe and efficient movement of people across the Canada-U.S. border is essential in the modern global economy - That's the message TIAC President and CEO David Goldstein brought to a progressive panel discussion on border policy in Washington D.C. last month.

 

While much of the emphasis in Beyond the Border initiatives has focused on the movement of tangible goods across our common frontier, Goldstein concentrated his remarks on the expedited but secure movement of people.

 

 

Gradual Growth in International Arrivals Continues, However Canada Still Lags Behind Pace of Global Growth
 

Statistics Statistics Canada's latest international travel figures for November, 2012 show modest growth from both the United States and long-haul markets.

 

While the latest figures show a lot of promise, particularly in the emerging markets of China, Brazil, Mexico and India, the 1.8% growth still falls well behind the global pace of 4% growth in tourism arrivals, a difference of 325,000 potential additional visitors.

 

Reminder & Clarification of the CIC Reasonable Admissibility Policy

In response to several inquiries, TIAC wishes to provide clarification on the new reasonable admissibility policy adopted Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and communicated to Canada Border Services Agency officials at ports of entry to Canada.

Mark your calendars now - June 10-16, 2013 is Tourism Week in Canada.  Tourism Week is a national initiative that highlights the impact of travel and tourism in Canada and raises our sector's profile with policymakers from coast to coast.

 

Throughout the week, tourism organizations, businesses and other partners organize and engage in a wide variety of local and regional activities and events that showcase the economic impact and social benefits of Canada's tourism sector for the media, the general public and all three levels of government.
