Did you know that walking is Canada's number one choice for physical activity? It is great for physical and mental health! It can help to reduce risk of coronary heart disease, lower blood pressure, strengthen bones, relieve stress and it can be a social activity done with others. Walking is convenient, inexpensive, safe and requires little skill or equipment.

Community Mental Health Offering Coffee Chats

The Interlake Eastern Suicide Prevention Committee is inviting residents in select communities to join them for a cup of coffee in recognition of mental health awareness week, May 1 to 7. The theme is "Let's talk mental health - make it your business."

"We've partnered up with multiple businesses, community, education and resource centres. We provide residents an opportunity to come have a coffee with us and talk. We'll have information available on how to help someone who is struggling and what mental health services are available. Mental health is an often overlooked part of whole health and many people aren't aware of the supports available to help," said Laura Tanguay, clinical team manager with the community mental health program.
