National Aboriginal Day - June 21

 Contributor:  Robert Maytwayashing

Aboriginal Human Resources Development Officer (AHRDO)

Interlake - Eastern Regional Health Authority

What reason(s) are there to celebrate this day?

The term "Aboriginal" is a government coined word as described in section 35. (2) of the Canadian Constitution which recognizes three distinct peoples; First Nations, Métis and Inuit as being indigenous to this land we now call Canada.

Aboriginal day which is celebrated on June 21 also happens to be summer solstice or the longest day of the year.

If the Food Guide counts juice in this group, does it mean that the nutritional quality is the same in juice and whole fruit?
