From the President
"As we move toward the start of a new legislative session, it's critical for TREIA to provide guidance that derives from the long-term needs of Texas energy consumers and the industries that serve them." said Wiese. "It's also critical for TREIA's membership to reach out to their elected officials, to introduce themselves and their businesses, and to strongly advocate for policies that optimize benefits of a diverse energy portfolio to all Texans."

Get A Twenty-Twenty Vision of Today's Renewable Energy Industry at Texas Renewables 2012
December 10 - 13 at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort, Bastrop, TX
Texas Renewables 2012 will be a unique experience delivering data support for the Texas legislative session, a view of an industry that is growing despite the economic down turn and inspiration for the coming year. The renewable energy industry will continue to grow economically, industrially and sustainably as it builds careers and job opportunities.
Texas Renewable Energy Industries Association, TREIA, the oldest renewable energy non-profit trade organization in Texas had an early vision of the economic value of renewable energy and that vision continues to grow as a worldwide industry.
Peter Fox-Penner, Principal and Chairman, The Brattle Group will provide the opening keynote. As we approach the coming legislative session in Texas Fox-Penner's insights will be helpful and provide necessary data to add strength and credibility to industry leaders who hope to influence policy.
Kate Galbraith, journalist at Texas Tribune, interviewed S. David Freeman, former General Manager at Lower Colorado River Authority, LCRA and Los Angeles Water & Power. Galbraith wrote about it in an article last December. In the interview Freeman said, "You don't have to take a position on air quality or climate change or any of those controversial issues. You can just look at the practical question of how do you stay out of hot water. And that's with waterproof power." Both Freeman and Galbraith are speakers at Texas Renewables 2012.
Roger Duncan, former manager, Austin Energy, is recognized globally for his vision on the benefits of electric vehicles. He has received Gridweek's 2011 Visionary Leadership Award and was selected as a Judge for Platts Global Energy Awards in 2012. Duncan joins Michael Osborne, Austin Energy as presenters and co-chairs of Texas Renewables 2012.
There will be numerous other outstanding speakers as well as several informative and inspirational video features and special personal video messages including:
- Dangerous Memes - Daniel C. Dennett, Tufts University
- Abundance is our Future - Peter Diamandis, X Prize Foundation
- What Starts Here Changes The World - U.T. Austin baseball coachAugie Garrido
Come ready to experience something new.
Expect the unexpected ...

Austin, TX (11/29/12)

Building Turbines, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: BLDW), a designer and manufacturer of patented, innovative commercial rooftop wind turbine systems, issued a statement today that within less than a month of Paul Getty joining Building Turbines team, BLDW has received a contract from Stone Capital Partners, for the sale of 10 of their model BT 5000 turbines, currently invoiced at $270,625. The turbines will be installed on "The Physicians Center" building on one of Houston's busiest, high visibility corridors, Loop 610. John Graham, CEO of Building Turbines, commented: "Adding Paul to the team was one of the best business decisions we have made. This is just the first in a long list of sales that Paul is in process of bringing us."
The city of Houston is looking forward to working with Stone Capital Partners, and helping them to create a greener Houston with this new LEED certified project. The Physicians Center will be the bench mark for state of the art Green Energy buildings in Houston, TX. It is a 6 story, 125,000 square-foot building located directly across from Memorial Hermann Hospital. They will be the first building to utilize all LED interior lighting, revolutionary roofing materials, the highest E-rated windows and R-rated insulation available, according to Robert Day.

| ERCOT Sets New Wind Power Record
Taylor, TX (November 16, 2012)
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, (ERCOT), grid operator for most of the state, set a new wind record on Nov.10, 2012.
Wind power output reached 8,521 megawatts (MW) at 10:21 a.m. This represented nearly 26 percent of system load at the time and surpassed the previous instantaneous record, set the evening of June 19, 2012, by more than 150 MW.
One MW is enough electricity to power about 200 homes during hot summer days when electric use is highest and about 500 homes during periods of typical consumption.
"We have surpassed previous wind power records several times this year," said Kent Saathoff, ERCOT's vice president of Grid Operations and System Planning. "While added capacity is one reason for this growth, experience and improved tools also are enabling ERCOT to integrate this resource into the grid more effectively than ever before."
Nearly 7,000 MW of the new record included wind power from West Texas wind farms, followed by more than 1,100 MW from wind farms along the Texas Coast.
ERCOT has more than 10,000 MW of wind power capacity, with nearly 21,000 MW of additional wind generation under review. The completion of high-voltage transmission projects in Competitive Renewable Energy Zones by the end of 2013 will improve ERCOT's ability to move wind power from West Texas.

OCI Solar Power Announces Partnership With KACO New Energy
San Antonio, TX (November 30, 2012)
KACO new energy, a global inverter manufacturer headquartered in Germany, and OCI Solar Power, a leading solar power developer, finalized a partnership to construct the largest photovoltaic solar power project in the Lone Star State. This mega-project will account for sales to KACO of about $500 million throughout the next ten years.
CPS Energy, the utility company for the seventh largest city in the United States, awarded the construction of these projects to OCI Solar Power in July. In its search for the best possible inverters for this ambitious project, OCI Solar Power decided on the well-respected XP series of the German inverter manufacturer, KACO new energy. Like the consortium partners Nexolon and ERCAM Trackers, KACO new energy will set up its own manufacturing plant in San Antonio, creating more than 70 new jobs. The positions are part of the 800-plus jobs that will be created in San Antonio as part of a 400 megawatt solar project.
