Join Us Saturday, June 22nd, 10am-4pm
San Francisco, CA
Our new mission statement reads, "The Earth Medicine Alliance encourages approaches to education and cultural change that harmonize traditional, indigenous ways of life with modern, Western science and culture." We're excited to invite *your* wisdom, experience, and inspiration on how to put this into practice.
The day will include visioning and dialogue focused on how the Alliance can embody our new mission. You'll meet the leadership of the Alliance (staff and board) and learn ways to get involved. We'll be sharing in circle with guest teachers such as Hua Anwa, Awo Ifagbemi, and Chandra Alexandre. No cost to attend, and we're pleased to offer a free, healthy lunch on location (gluten-free and vegetarian options). Duration is 10am-4pm. Preregistering by June 7th (email to paula@earthmedicine.org) is helpful. We hope you can join us in this time of growth and renewed inspiration! All are welcome!!! See: June 22nd Event Flyer and feel welcome to check out our Facebook event page.

Newest Earth Medicine Alliance Board Member: Awo Ifagbemi Faseye
In the Yoruba traditions of West Africa few philosophies or schools of thought are as deeply seated and entrenched in the culture than ancestral reverence. Rather than sharing specific practices on how to engage spirit, instead I offer you: Honor Thyself. Think closely on your calling to the tradition or your practice of choice. No practice is wrong and yet wisdom behooves us to conservatively bridge between preserving tradition while advancing our humanity and our other-than-human companions that we share this Earth with. How do your current practices encourage you to honor yourself? Understanding what you need and asking for this in healthy ways is foundational for a balanced spiritual practice. The Yoruba tradition of Ifa teaches that by honoring thyself you are also honoring your ancestors. These ancestors come in the form of blood relatives and include all who have had a significant impact upon our lives; we are all inter-connected. By starting with self-honoring, we find with the ancestors a reference point to expand our relatedness and eventually work toward effecting a global consciousness shift. So, speak your voice, and let your truth reflect in your daily life. Share your dreams and visions with those dear to you. Find the courage to look within and assess what you genuinely need. Think through effective ways to seek for that which sustains you, and likewise extend this help to others when possible, seeing the invisible connection that binds us and weaves our shared ancestry and collective consciousness. To "honor thyself" is an important step towards healing our relationship with all living beings with whom we share the planet, ancestors included. To this end we invite you to join us on Saturday June 22nd 2013 for a shared day of visioning, self-honoring, and community discussion as we unfold the next stage of development for the Earth Medicine Alliance. We hope you can share with us in circle around the questions of how our common goals can heal the world around us.

Ways to Get Involved
The Earth Medicine Alliance is a 501(c)3 non-profit focused on helping humans to heal and enliven our relationship with the rest of the natural world. One of the best ways you can support our work is by making a donation to support our efforts (we are fully tax-exempt).
Dedicated volunteers are needed year-round for various projects:
- Voice of the Earth Project. Work on an interview/film project in a flexible team environment and interface with great earth-honoring elders and community leaders. Contact: elaine@earthmedicine.org
- Board of Directors. We are now a working board of six and we have space for others if it's a good fit. If you have experience serving on a board, and especially if you have fundraising, marketing, business, or other practical skills, feel good about contacting us. Please email info@earthmedicine.org
