Earth Medicine hosts a Hospitality Suite at PantheaCon
Feb 15-18th. San Jose, CA

For our third consecutive year, Earth Medicine Alliance will host a hospitality suite at PantheaCon the nation's largest conference for "Pagans, Heathens, Indigenous Non-European and many of diverse beliefs. There will be more than 200 presentations that range from rituals to workshops and from classes to concerts."
The theme of this year's conference is Co-operation, Tolerance, & Love. We're happy to be joining forces in the hospitality suite with Circles of Empowerment. Our warm and welcoming Hospitality Suite will be open throughout PantheaCon! Please stop in for refreshments, workshops, ribbons, drumming, singing, divinations, and to just ground down in our sacred space. Want to meet and greet folks? We're looking for people who are planning on going to PantheaCon and have attended an Alliance event in the past to donate a couple of hours of time to welcome new people. Please contact our executive director Artemis@earthmedicine.org if it would bring you joy to be of service in this way. We hope to see you there!

Board Member Reflections by Jeff McElwain
The first snow has fallen here in Southwest Colorado and I am fully feeling the transition from the introspection of autumn to the renewal of winter. Dark and quiet come but despite the outward appearance of stillness and death, winter is a great time of active and fecund dormancy. Everything slows down, looks inward and begins gathering energy for the rebirth of spring.
Our conference this year focused on ancestors. What a perfect time of year to look back - no wonder so many earth honoring traditions dedicate this time of year to the ancestors. We look back to our ancestors and we feel their bones in the winter earth giving us strength, we hear their voices in the winter darkness speaking to us in wisdom and we are renewed in our ability to fully engage and be conscious in our lives. We know they are there to support and love us in this earthwalk until it is finally time to make our transition to the spirit world and become good ancestors for those that come after us. May they prepare us well.
Winter is a time for reflection on our busy lives. The natural world forces us to at least slow down a bit as cold, rain and snow make any activity just a bit more challenging and draw us to those inward endeavors. We have time to reflect and remember how our lives are tied to the natural world, how the seasons are a perfect mirror of life, how incredibly and deeply grateful we are for our lives right now on this planet. How despite all our challenges in preserving the natural world, walking a spiritual path on a daily basis, finding common ground as humans and moving toward a more peaceful and loving world, that right now, everything is as it should be and we are each a conscious molecule in the evolution of our planet.
There are many gifts waiting in the darkness of winter for those that are willing to search for the richness there. Take some time this winter to visit with your soul, your spirit guides and your ancestors to find that place of deep gratitude and reverence for this incredible world that we share, search for and wrestle your spiritual gifts from the dark, fertile ground of winter and bring those unique gifts to the table with the rebirth of spring. The spirit world will bless you greatly for your heartfelt efforts and Mother Earth and all her people will benefit.
In gratitude,
Jeff
