Earth Medicine Alliance                                      November 2012

Greetings!

I'm still feeling the goodness from all of the offerings at our Conference, from the heartfelt opening ceremony with teachers representing different spiritual traditions calling in the directions, to the ceremonies on the land on day two; from Luisah Teish's playful yet deeply resonant keynote, to all of the generous donors to the silent auction.

And of course a big shout out to the volunteers, including all the staff as well as the folks that showed up that day to support. And to Norm Halm who was so inspired after the conference that he invited Earth Medicine Alliance to use his beautiful photography in this newsletter. More and more, I experience the sweet effects from a practice of gratitude, so I felt the need to wax on a bit here.

We all need others to re-inspire us to continue connecting with all of our brothers and sisters, with our ancestral roots and with the elder spirits of the land and natural world around us. So hopefully you too are nourished by weaving the web of community.

We are very blessed to have interviewed some of the great leaders of our time on topics such as indigenous wisdom, importance of ceremony, and Native storytelling for our Voices of the Earth video project. And we're celebrating this growing body of work at our Launch Party and Fundraiser in Los Gatos.

Take good care of your Self throughout these drastic weather changes and I hope to see you at our Launch Party in December!

Warmly,

Artemis

Voices of the Earth Launch Party
Sunday December 2nd, 5-8pm
Los Gatos, CA

Come celebrate with Earth Medicine Alliance as we unveil our full archive of interviews with diverse, earth-honoring elders and community leaders. This will be a good opportunity to hear from some of these exceptional teachers in person, learn more about the project and what we have in store for the future, as well as meet and network with others in the community.

We'll gather on a winter evening at a beautiful private home in the Los Gatos hills overlooking the Santa Cruz Mountains to enjoy food, libations, and great company.
Please see our full flyer for all the details!

Ways to Get Involved

The Earth Medicine Alliance is a volunteer-run non-profit focused on helping humans to heal and enliven our relations with the rest of the natural world. One of the best ways you can support our work is by making a donation to support our efforts (we are fully tax-exempt). To inquire about becoming part of our team, please email Artemis@earthmedicine.org.

Alliance Wish List and Current Needs:
  • Help with Events.  If it brings you joy to do event production and support elders and ceremonial leaders to bring their wisdom to the community, please get in contact with Artemis to find out more about this position.
  • Voice of the Earth Project. Work on an interview/film project in a flexible team environment and interface with some of the great elders and community leaders of our time. For more info contact Elaine Gast Fawcett at Elaine@earthmedicine.org.
  • Board of Directors. We are now a working board of five and we have space for others if it's a good fit. If you have experience serving on a board, and especially if you have fundraising, marketing, business, or other practical skills, feel good about contacting us.
