Shabbat Candlelighing 7:19 p.m.
Dear DKJA Community,

Mark your calendars for an amazing event where Jewish day schools from around the nation will shine. I am honored that Claire and Emanuel G. Rosenblatt High School is one of four South Florida High Schools to host the Moot Beit Din competition this Sunday. Twenty-nine teams from across North America will come together to present their arguments to a panel of judges. The case involves a daughter and decisions she must make for her father about his end of life care.

The competition takes place in West Palm Beach this Sunday, April 3rd, and a livestream will be available.

The Moot Beit Din competition is one of the many programs DKJA enjoys through RAVSAK, the umbrella organization for 135+ community day schools in North America. It's an extraordinary program that exposes students from Jewish High Schools to the vitality of the Jewish legal system and its relevance to their own lives. Students intensively study traditional and modern texts and then prepare and defend their decisions before a panel of judges during the national competition.

Rosenblatt High School will be represented by Abe Waserstein, Dana Lipson, Asher Gritz and Macayla Gritz. I was honored to have been invited to attend the welcome dinner Thursday night with all of the participants from across the country. What a spectacular group of individuals. The energy and enthusiasm in the room was contagious.

RAVSAK and I encourage you to host a "Moot Beit Din Viewing Party" to watch the event as it happens, and to cheer on Rosenblatt High School's team. CLICK HERE FOR THE LIVESTREAM. Please share your participation and photos from your party by tagging @RAVSAK on Facebook or Twitter.

What a perfect opportunity for me to commend not only a member of the Moot Beit Din
team, but also an exceptional student at Rosenblatt High School who has achieved an extraordinary accomplishment. Eleventh-grader Abraham Waserstein has been selected for the renowned Bronfman Youth Fellowship, considered the most prestigious fellowship for Jewish day school students.

Abe is one of only 26 teens selected nationally for this year-long fellowship, which is focused on identifying the future leaders of the Jewish people in the Diaspora and in Israel. He will be part of an all-expense paid program for five weeks in Israel this summer, two seminars during next year, and lifelong connections with young people and alumni who make significant contributions to the Jewish community and the community at large.

This announcement is a wonderful way to begin Shabbat, with such a sense of pride.
From the bottom of our hearts, KOL HAKAVOD!

In closing...this weekend is the perfect opportunity for our entire community to be a part of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County's Super Sunday. The event is chaired by DKJA parents Hal and Talia Klein. The Kleins are longtime members of our Jewish community. Talia serves on our Board of Trustees, and the entire Klein family is committed to Jewish continuity. Please participate in any way that you can to support the excellent programs and services made available through events such as this. Click here for details.

Highlight of the Week

DKJA seventh-graders spent an amazing week in Washington, D.C. learning about the Nation's Capital. One highlight, in addition to seeing the monuments and experiencing the city's surroundings, was a tour of the White House. Welcome back!
