I am writing to you as we embark upon a new semester, a new outlook and many things to look forward to, despite underlying tensions in the world that always are on our minds.
Our hearts and thoughts are with Israel, and the Middle East, as we persevere with continued strength. With this in mind, I would like to focus upon two upcoming opportunities for you as resources to perhaps find answers or inspiration in your lives.
I personally have sought inspiration from my colleagues in the Jewish community on countless occasions. I am truly honored to now be included among an esteemed group of remarkable women who will each be presenting at the upcoming program "A Night of Inspiration" on Tuesday, February 9th at 7 p.m. at Olympic Heights High School. Each of us will share new perspectives about our one-of-a-kind Jewish community.
Register today, and find more details, at jewishboca.org/inspiration.
I am pleased and extremely proud that DKJA has partnered with the Jewish Theological Seminary and a wonderful collaboration of synagogues in our community to present a thought-provoking day of learning. The title is "Relating to the Other in Jewish Texts and with Jewish Values." Through study and conversation, participants will learn how "others" - both outside and inside the Jewish community - have been regarded in Jewish text and history. This is an amazing opportunity to explore unique topics and use introspection, with applications to our everyday lives. I encourage you to attend the program on Sunday, February 21st (following your Mitzvah Day activities - please read more about Mitzvah Day in the article below). Further information is available by clicking here.
I wish you a Shabbat Shalom, Helena Levine Head of School
