This bill finishes what they started last year when they gave in-state tuition to a small group of illegals. Now, legislators plan to make virtually ALL illegals eligible for in-state tuition rates if they have graduated after attending an Indiana school for at least 3 years! The cost is estimated at nearly $7 million per year! After word of this gets out, you can expect the cost to climb as even more illegals to move into our state to take advantage of this benefit. Please note that this bill says the new name for illegal aliens is "nonimmigrant alien residents."

Please vote against SB 279 which would unfairly cost our state nearly $7 million to help illegal aliens afford a college education. That money should be spent on our own children. There aren't enough jobs for our college grads as it is. We do not want you to make it easier for illegals to live and work here. If you're going to make college easier to afford, do it for our kids. That's why we paid taxes, not to help illegals. Your job is to represent us, not foreigners who have broken our laws. If this bill becomes law, you can expect the cost to climb over $7 million as more illegals are attracted to our state.
