Meet Brittney Maurer

Employer: Mobile Medical Response
Title:  Director of Human Resources
Age: 27

Why did you join the YPN? I had just moved back to the Saginaw area after accepting a job with MMR, and I was looking to represent MMR within my community. I was also working towards my MBA from Davenport University, and the YPN offered a tuition discount at DU, which was very helpful.

How long have you been a part of the YPN? For three and a half years.

Name an experience you enjoyed that the YPN hosted and why: I really enjoy Lunch with the Leaders. I find it to be a great learning experience because the intimate group setting and the environment of the luncheons are very conducive for information exchange and collaboration with the leaders and fellow YP's.

How has the YPN been helpful for your career?  Aside from the obvious opportunities to expand my networking and professional skills, the YPN has encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone. I am an introvert, and I know that in my profession it is essential that I work on my social skills in order to come across as more extroverted and outgoing (even if, deep down, I'm not wired that way). YPN events allow me to meet new people each time, which requires me to put on my extrovert mask.

What is the best piece of advice you've ever gotten?  "The more that you read, the more things you will know." Even though it is a line from a Dr. Seuss book, it is one of my favorite pieces of advice. I am a strong advocate for reading, and I have always been encouraged to read anything and everything. Reading can expand your knowledge and understanding of the industry you work in, which can give you a seat at the table and a voice to be heard.

With Sincere Appreciation

The Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce would like to recognize Anthony Taylor as founding member and Chair of the YPN for the last 6 years.  Anthony has proven to be a leader, an innovator, a supporter, an enthusiastic cheerleader, an advisor, a trusted committee member, and an engaged and motivated participant. He has cheerfully accepted requests for increasingly demanding responsibilities and made real contributions to the success of Chamber programs, events and the community. Thank you Anthony for your time and commitment to the Saginaw Valley YPN.
