Radhika Kanna, Geetanjali Kannan Dazzling whether she's defending the environment or performing a classical Indian dance, Radhika Kannan is the winner of Berkeley's coveted University Medal. Despite the sudden loss of her mother during her junior year, Kannan rallied to carry out a career plan they had made together and went on to graduate with the highest distinction in economics and conservation studies and a near-perfect GPA.

APASA Fifteen individual staffers and members of three staff teams are  this year's winners of the Chancellor's Outstanding Staff Award (COSA), one of the campus's highest honors for staff. Chancellor Nicholas Dirks will congratulate the recipients at the awards ceremony, which takes place Thursday, 12:30-2:30 p.m. The event will be livestreamed.

Joseph Greenwell UC Berkeley Dean of Students Joseph Greenwell has put out a video that vividly underscores his empathy with students dealing with the pressures of life. In it, he talks about his own struggles when he was young - with loneliness, his sexual identity and suicidal thoughts. The video is part of efforts by the campus to raise awareness of available mental health resources.
