UC Berkeley researchers found lead, cadmium, chromium, aluminum and five other metals in 32 lipsticks and lip glosses commonly found in drugstores and department stores. Some of the metals were detected at levels that could raise potential health concerns.

For Cal Dining's "Chews to Reuse" team, innovation is all about taking a great idea and making it into a successful program - in this case, developing a system that lets students take food to go in reusable containers and bringing Berkeley one step closer to its zero-waste goal. For this, the team wins recognition for exemplifying one of Berkeley's five operating principles.
