Are you accustomed to flashing your plain old, standard Washington driver's license in the security line at the airport? Come January it may not get you through security checks much longer. The federal government says that regular Washington driver's license aren't strict enough for flying. Washington and New Mexico are the only states that do not require proof of legal U.S residency to get a state license or ID, and that is no longer acceptable to the Department of Homeland Security. Thanksgiving is a holiday steeped in tradition. Much of it is centered on food and everyone has a favorite or two. While some "traditions" don't quite fit the mold, like outdoor outfitter REI closing on Black Friday to encourage everyone to get outside instead of shop, and the annual 5K/10K Green Lake Gobble & Mashed Potato Munch Off. Whether you lean towards traditional or off-beat, this year's holiday season has begun and there's lots to do around Seattle.
