Lawmakers in Olympia are considering a bill that would make Washington the first state in the country to mandate that employers who have 25 or more employees working 20 hours or more a week would need to provide paid vacation days. The U.S. is the only industrial nation that doesn't guarantee its workers any paid vacation time, according to the Center for Economic Policy and Research. While many U.S. employers offer paid vacation time, nearly 1 in 4 American workers receive no paid vacation or paid holidays.
Some Washington business owners are balking at the idea of a paid vacation mandate as they face many other issues including an increased minimum wage and paid sick leave for their workforce. The bill will be voted on shortly in chambers and will then head to the Senate if approved. Read more here.

The first Seattle Seahawk to storm the field during home games isn't the head coach or the quarterback - it isn't even human. It's Taima, a captive-bred Augur Hawk that has accompanied the team before every home game since 2007.
So, what is a "Seahawk"? It's hard to find a bird of prey with a blue body and a contrasting dark cap anywhere in the world, let alone one with glowing, green eyes. The bill suggests an eagle, such as our own Bald Eagle, but its shape and heft are a better fit for a Steller's Sea-Eagle from the Far East. Or is it a bird of prey in our own backyard that is a better fit to be our majestic Seahawk? Read more to find out!

Miuw Atkins is Delivery Express' newest employee, as our accounting assistant. Accounting is the perfect fit for Miuw as she loves analyzing data, processes and procedures. She loves the end results, but most of all, she loves working with people, learning new things and honing her skills.
Miux is a Seattle Native and the oldest of eight siblings. She also has a twelve-year old daughter named Kobe (yes, she is named after Kobe Bryant and she even loves playing basketball). Miuw's daughter keeps her busy, but when she does have time to relax, Miuw loves to cheer on her beloved Seahawks, play first person shooter games and go camping. Miux especially enjoys cooking from scratch, while trying new things like edible art. She would love to one-day open her very own bistro!
