in this update...
(CWDO) actively promotes the rights, freedoms and responsibilities of persons with disabilities through community development, social action, and member support and referral.  Our primary activity is public education and awareness about the social and physical barriers that prevent the full inclusion of persons with disabilities in Ontario.

CWDO is proud to be Ontario's representative at the Council of Canadians with Disabilities since June, 2009.

The Centre for Independent Living in Toronto, (CILT) Inc., in partnership with the University of Toronto (Department of Physical Therapy), and with funding provided by Ontario Trillium Foundation presents...

"Stories from Disability Leaders: Community Activism and Engagement"

This interactive webinar will feature stories of activism, change, and resistance from prominent disability leaders in the province.

This is a rare chance to hear from leaders who have engaged in change for the last 30 years.
  • What has encouraged and propelled activists to engage in community work?
  • What strategies did they use?
  • What were some of the tensions they experienced?
  • How did they engage, with and across disability communities?
Throughout the presentation we will also discuss the importance of acknowledging this past work and how, in doing so, it can foster the continued and future engagement of younger disabled people.

Please plan to attend this dynamic and engaging webinar!
