Solarize Port Townsend 2013

Solarize PT is a group purchasing program resulting in significant rebates on solar photovoltaic (PV) installations.
How much money can I save with a group purchase? Solar installations typically cost $3,800 - $6,000 / kilowatt (kW) after the 30% federal income tax credit. Power Trip Energy will offer an additional $700/kW rebate per customer irrespective of the total number of kilowatts installed through the program. There is a maximum rebate amount $5,000 per customer, though if you install more than 7 KW, we will offer you a free installation of a Level II (240 V) Electric Vehicle Charging Station ($1500 value).
When can I get solar on my house or business through Solarize Port Townsend?The deadline to sign up for the program is January 31, 2013. Installations will continue through the Winter of 2012-13 and we anticipate completing the final installations by April 30, 2013.

Solar Sales Tax Exemption Expires Soon
Solar installations have enjoyed sales tax exemption for over a decade here in Washington State, and this exemption will end on June 30, 2013. This means that these systems will become 8.6% to 9% more expensive depending on your local sales tax rate. If you have been considering installing one of these systems, this is a good deadline to beat. |

Rep Tharinger Tours Jefferson Community Solar Array
Representative Tharinger saw first-hand the power of our community and renewable energy recently as he toured the 17 kw community solar array at Jefferson Airport. Power Trip Energy's Andy Cochrane was able to share perspectives of the state's community solar incentives from the perspective of project developer, installing contractor, and one of 10 co-owners of the Jefferson Solar Group, LLC. Discussions will continue as to ways the state might improve its implementation of these incentives.
