What is Solarize Port Townsend? A group purchase and installation program resulting in significant savings on solar photovoltaic (PV) installations.

 

Who qualifies? Solarize Port Townsend is available to customers of Puget Sound Energy located In Jefferson county.
 

 How much money can I save? Solar PV systems typically cost $4,200 - $7,000 per kilowatt (kW) to install after the 30% Federal income tax credit. Power Trip Energy will offer an additional  $700 per kW rebate. 

 

Maximum rebate amount $5,000 per customer. Free Type II Electric Vehicle charger for those who maximize rebate.
 

When can I get solar power on my house or business through Solarize Port Townsend? Installations will occur in the Winter of 2012-2013.

 

Is there a deadline to sign up? The enrollment deadline for January 31st 2013.

  

Participate in Solarize Port Townsend and pay no sales tax! Currently solar PV systems under 10 kW are exempt from sales tax. However, this state sales tax exemption expires June 30, 2013. All Solarize PT systems will be installed before this date and will be exempt from sales tax (under 10 kW).

 

How many PV systems have been installed so far through Solarize PT? To date this year 13 homes have signed up for Solarize Port Townsend for a total of 70 kW of solar power.

 

How do I sign up for Solarize Port Townsend? Attend the Solarize Port Townsend orientation on Saturday, October 20th at the Port Townsend Community Center.You can also call a Power Trip Energy solar agent for a free phone consultation at 360-643-3080 to learn more about solar power and to find out if your home or business is a good solar candidate. Before signing up, all participants must first have a solar evaluation conducted for their site by Power Trip Energy.
