When Jennifer learned about the services MFP offers to homeless youth, she was touched by how thoughtful the programs were, and decided to get involved. As a mother to three young children, the Parenting Program especially resonated with her.
MFP's Parenting Program is a 20-week curriculum wherein new parents receive support and education, as well as family-focused celebrations and field trips. The group also creates a safe place for parents to play and bond with their children, and get to know other parents. Jennifer adds:
"I can relate to the daily struggles and isolation that comes with meeting a small child's daily needs. I love how the discussion in the group vary from basic parenting skills and appropriate discipline to self-defense and child CPR. MFP doesn't stop at meeting the basic needs of the young people, but goes far beyond by meeting their emotional, creative and spiritual needs as well."
When asked her favorite aspect of volunteering, Jennifer said:
"I love having the opportunity to hold the newborns, play with the toddlers and interact with the moms. I feel honored to be a part of this very special time for new parents and their young children."
We are also honored to have you on our team. On behalf of the youth and staff of MFP, thank you and
Happy Mother's Day!
